Faulty unit, not befitting of a brand like Dewalt
Unless, potentially, I am missing something crucial to the operation of this charger, it would appear that the unit I have received is defective.I purchased this unit after my truck refused to start. Being a diesel that it would not jump from my other vehicles was not terribly surprising. I decided the best thing to do was buy a charger and charge each of the batteries independently up to full charge. I bought this Dewalt unit because I trust in the quality, and I figured an automotive battery charger was the sort of tool that lasts a person's lifetime. Plus, the ability to trickle charge would make this charger very useful for vehicles I park for a season.Upon connection to the truck batteries the charger showed 10.5V and 11.2V respectively. Multimeter readings confirmed this charge level. Pressing the "Charge" button results in the fan turning on and the readout showing 0.0-0.1A of charging rate for 2-3 seconds, then charging ends (does not enter trickle charge, just ends). Attempting "Engine Start" results in a readout of a 10 second countdown, which ends 2-3 seconds later (at 8-7 seconds). Given that this truck has been sitting for a while, I thought perhaps the truck starter solenoid is the culprit and these batteries are actually at full charge, so I put the charger away.Fast forward a month and one of our cars will not start, battery is too low. I connect the charger to this car battery and it exhibits the exact same behavior. 11.0V detected, charge and engine start cut out after a few seconds.I should also mention a few other things:- The handle design is very poor, that it does not latch in an upright position results in it sliding back down into the lower position constantly and makes the unit very difficult to pick up or steer.- The unit is extremely light, like half the weight of other chargers I have used. I cannot say that this is a bad thing with certainty, but it does not lend itself to the perception of a quality, reliable tool.- It is extremely hard to find information on this unit, searching for information about Dewalt battery chargers almost invariably directs you to information about charging batteries for cordless power tools, not for an automotive battery charger. This product isn't even listed on the Dewalt website.

Wonderful
This is the second battery charger I have bought. The first one was a smaller model, Stanley from Walmart and it took way to long to charge a battery. This charger has diagnostics, charges a car battery in minutes, checks alternators, and re-conditions batteries in just a few hours. Dewalt is a very good brand!

Just average....made to look pretty, and NOT made by Dewalt.
So, it works. But it's definitely china made. The bottom brace to rest it on, didn't fit. It was made wrong. So I had to try and bend it to get the bolts to go in the holes and into the base to mount it. It was a pain in the butt and will not bend to fit. The handle isn't locking, for $200 that would be a good feature so that every time you pull it some where, the handle doesn't recess and you can push instead of always pull. Some of my luggage has better handles. Works with top post batteries ONLY! On side post batteries, the clamps keep coming off as they don't have any protruding clips like some of the other cheaper models. The unit isn't made by Dewalt. It's made by another company called Baccus Global. This means that when I called Dewalt, they said that they have no way to trouble shoot as she said "It's not our product, just our name on it", then gave me the number to Baccus Global in which I sat on hold for so long that I just hung up. So Dewalt will NOT honor or support any part of this product. It does have some nice features and time will tell if it will hold up to what I thought was a Dewalt standard. What that said, I'm definitely keeping the boxes for that "just in case" moment I have to return.

Super lightweight, full of features, few shortcomings.
We've only used it a couple times but so far it is by far the best battery charger we have ever seen. I am crippled but this is light weight enough for even me to lift it. If I could change any aspects of the design I would enable the telescoping handle to remain in its extended position; it falls down as soon as you let it go. The other shortcoming is that the cables should be at least a foot longer. My truck has only a couple inches of lift with 37" tires and the charger has to be right next to the tire for the cables to reach. The tires on this charger are large enough for use on a gravel driveway easily rolling over 1" clean. The gauges are very helpful and clear. Scrolling through the settings took me maybe two minutes to figure out, my father still finds it confusing. We didn't want to spend this kind of money but are very satisfied with this purchase and have no hesitation about recommending it to others.

Worked for short period
Unit worked well for about 10-12 random charges charging all auto tractor and lawn/atv type batteries. One issue was the touch keys on the panel....they began randomly working and ultimately just stopped working rendering the unit useless. I expected more from Dewalt as this is the first “buyer beware” I would put on a dewalt product

Dead in the water without it.
Battery charger was a life saver. I have twin engines and 6 batteries in my boat. Without the battery charger, during power outages (which is often) , my batteries deplete rapidly which leaves me dead in the water. I run the battery charger off a 3k inverter/generator and I am back in business very shortly. I highly recommend dewalt products.
