Amazingly fast at cutting fries
We used to hand cut our fries. Now we can cut a potato faster than getting one out of the potato bag. It takes little effort to push the potato through. The blade is SHARP. Requires careful handling. Easy cleanup - just be careful handling the blades. Sweet potatoes are much more dense that regular potatoes so do as directions recommend and microwave for a bit. Otherwise, you will struggle cutting and possible dull your blade faster. We LOVE this cutter.

Finally bought one
I'll admit, I've had this item in my cart more times than I could count. I kept thinking to myself "Do I REALLY need an $80 fry cutter?" Then it happened. One day while dining out my daughter asked to sub her potato chips for french fries. Once we got the bill we realized they upcharged us over $6.00 for french fries! That was it for me, I told my husband I'm done paying exorbitant restaurant prices and from now on we're eating at home.It took some time to convince my husband we needed this fry cutter. He's stubborn when it comes to the mighty dollar, and I can't blame him. With the cost of inflation you'd have to be living under a rock not to notice how expensive things have gotten. After seeing the $6.00 fry upcharge I think that helped the cause. We enjoy fries but all the store brands are loaded with oil and chemicals. I tried cutting regular potatoes with a knife, and that does work, but I could never get them the same size. Half of them would cook faster than the others and it was never a great experience. I decided to go ahead and order this bad boy and give it a go. I scrubbed a couple of organic potatoes, threw them in the slicer and BAM, freshly cut french fries in seconds. I stay away from oil so I just threw a little salt on mine and air fried them for 15 minutes. They all came out perfect. I bet they would be great if you deep fried them.Next I'll try sweet potatoes and see how they cook up. Is this machine perfect...no. There's a couple of things like the plastic pusher that was kind of hard to get off to wash. It's also hard to get the potato through the slicer. You have to put some muscle behind it. If you have arthritis I could see this being a problem for you. It's also large, so if you have little storage space then keep that in mind. I'm still trying to figure out where to store mine. From what I can tell it's really well built and hope it lasts for years because it wasn't cheap. All in all I'm happy with my purchase. It's definitely a splurge item but it's nice to have when you're in the mood for some fries. The best part about this is I never have to leave my house, don't have to encounter about terrible service and I don't have to worry about leaving a tip. Here's a photo of my lion's mane mushroom burger and organic fries. I made 4 servings of lion's mane burgers and organic fries for under $20! The machine is saving us money already.

Terrific product!
We are extremely happy with this French Fry cutter. My husband and I researched the many cutters available and settled on this one. It has met our every expectation by readily and uniformly cutting French fries quickly and easily. You do have to apply some pressure to the lever as raw potatoes are hard and dense. If you don't have some arm strength this may not be the cutter for you but I think most will be able to get the hang of it.The machine is on the heavy side with suction cups on the bottom...both important features as you want the machine to be securely in place as you pressing down on the lever to allow it to cut the potatoes. It is easy to take apart to clean and a sturdy brush is included to get in between the cutting holes. You can use this with many other hard veggies besides potatoes: think butternut squash fries as one alternative example. Here is my favorite French fry recipe courtesy of Melissa Clark of New York Times cooking (she is amazing; I recommend any of her cooksbooks.)Baked French Fries1 1/2 lbs of russet potatoes (about 3 large)4 Tablespoons of olive oil1/2 tsp salt1/2 tsp black pepperStep 1Arrange one oven rack at the lowest point in your oven. Place a large rimmed baking sheet (a sheet pan) on the rack and heat the oven to 500 degrees.Step 2In a large bowl, toss together your cut potatoes (after using your French fry cutter!) with the olive oil, salt and pepper and any additional seasonings you might like. I often add garlic powder and/or paprika.Carefully remove the now scalding hot baking sheet from the hot oven..close oven door again to not lose heat!. Carefully spread potatoes out on the preheated baking sheet in a single layer and return to oven.Roast until slightly golden and crispy tossing them after 15 minutes.Step 3Reduce oven temperature to 425 degrees and bake an additional 10-15 minutes.Enjoy!Step 3
