Great for the Fitness Professional
DISCLAIMER: As mentioned in other reviews, this book has many technical terms. I am very interested in anatomy and physiology, and am a personal trainer, so I make my living knowing this information. Therefore, I didn't find this book to be a very tough read, and it made sense to me. However, I can see how that might not be true for everyone, so just keep that in mind.I loved this book. I absolutely hate the DVDs. To me, the book was all that was necessary. I can look at the exercises, read them, and do them at my own leisure. Very convenient, very excellent. I love it.Part of the reason I rate the book so highly is that it's an alternative to the DVDs, which I can't stand. The DVD's are in black and white (half of them) and have TERRIBLE TERRIBLE quality. They look as though they were made somewhere between 1980 and 1991. There is no in depth explanation of anything. Basically, roll on this ball and you'll feel great. They discuss modifications but don't actually show any. You can't skip chapters. They also basically made one DVD and then extracted pieces of it and made other DVD's that you have to pay more money for. They have the Total Body Workout DVD, and then created a "legs dvd" or whatever, and took the legs portion of the total body workout and made that a separate DVD. Also, Yamuna just downright talks too much.For all of these reasons, I am in love with this book. It gives me all the information I need to know, without all the extra nonsense.HOWEVER, again, if you aren't familiar with all the anatomy of the body, this book might not be clear for you as to how to do all the exercises, because if you don't know where your iliotibial band inserts, you might be out of luck.

Excellent book for bodyworkers
I purchased this book after a fellow bodyworker recommended I look into bodyrolling. I wasn't really interested at 1st, but after getting the book and following the instructions for the back I got an incredible release on my right side which is a chronic area. I'm not totally healed, but I can tell that the body rolling is going to be a regular part of my self care practice. Not recommended for laypeople unless your knowledgeable in anatomy or don't mind looking things up. This is something I look forward to learning more about. I will probably do the training so I can offer this to my clients.

Technical - For Professionals and Wannabes
I figured out on my own that rolling on a ball was a very effective way to deal with my back problems. According to the book I even figured out the exactly correct size ball for my size. I figured that this book would provide some great additional info. Frankly, it probably does, but the terminology and assumed knowledge of anatomy is so great that I quickly got glassy-eyed.Bottom line: The technique is great, and the book is informative, but unless you have a technical background in body work, or are highly motivated to learn about this technique on your own, it's too difficult of a read to get a lot out of.

Better than Ultimate Workout, wish I had bought this book first
We are all at a different place in life so I do not want to criticize Body Rolling The Ultimate Workout. That said, I found most of Ultimate Workout to be an info-merical. Body Rolling: An Experiential Approach to Complete Muscle Release contained more usable information with better references to specific conditions such as low back pain, sciatica, neck, shoulder, etc. The photos are easier to follow than in the 2nd book. In general, Body Rolling is a wonderful way to approach experiencing the body in new ways.

Other than that it feels good (I bought the silver ball separately)
Takes some time to learn and actually do. If you aren't willing to take time out to learn this and do it then don't buy, It will just collect dust. Other than that it feels good (I bought the silver ball separately). I haven't done it long enough to get results. Would be perfect if there was a class to go to and do it, just like you would yoga!

Not light reading - A technical book for correcting real musculoskeletal issues
This book is not a good intro into body rolling if you are a lay person. It is designed to present routines to be used as corrective exercises and for training her instructors.For a good intro, buy the kit and the DVD and the newer book.If you are really "motivated" and understand what the muscle origin and insertion is and are interested in rolling through and releasing various levels and layers of muscle tissue, then buy the book. I own both books, and unlike most authors, did not find any redundency between the two.

Genius!
I took a body rolling class recently and was immediately hooked, so I wanted to make sure I had the book to go along with my new balls. This system is a fantastic way to loosen up your muscles and fascia, and I've found myself using the balls (and book) nearly daily. Everyone should try this!

Excellent book, full of great information and suggestions for use. Definitely not for the beginner; in fact, it is more aimed at teachers, but for someone with a fair amount of body-rolling experience who wants to add some depth to their practice, this book is great.
