I had a similar Brother printer it is used in a home environment and it went on for over 10 years so I thought I would buy similar.The new model prints auto on both side of the paper and does everything the old one did. I didn't go for ink tanks as it's not used every day.My only problem when it arrived there was no 13amp plug in the box Amazon don't give you a chance to talk about the problem and get a plug sent out it's ether OK or it has to be sent back. I brought a new plug. (Very annoying Amazon)

I purchased this printer on the understanding that it was compatible with my iMac. I was quite pleased with it when the setting up seemed to go well. but then when I tried to scan and send to my iMac. it just would not work. I have contacted Brother and have been informed they have no plans to release official drivers or software for this model of Brother DCP-J1140DW. The printer does work on command from my desktop, and the quality of the print seems OK but I am very very unhappy.UpdateAfter being informed by the manufacturer that this printer DCP-J1140DW was not compatible with my Imac and having noticed there was a USB port in the centre of the printer I searched Amazon for a usb printer cable and found exactly the right one, I then searched for usb c cable for my iMac and also found one. I am not good with IT, so with only guess work I ordered both cables and just hoped they would match, a nd to my amazement they connected . I am now so very happy. I can scan document/photo, enlarge or reduce and send it to my desktop and print it out. I have done 4 separate tests because I can not believe my printer is actually working properly. Thank you Amazon for having such good stock.

This is my Fifth Brother Printer and each is down graded from a multi function presentation solution to a machine that requires major surgery to change style of output limiting the machine to act as an A4 standard paper m/c. I was disappointed from the first moment i opened the box. Instead of an office quality machine it feels like a toy made in China by new recruits from the rice fieldsI wish i had not purchased the machine

The printer as you'd expect from Brother is fine and suitable as advised for home use, which is why I am not sending it back. However, what Amazon states at the time of writing is that it is capable of A3 printing. It is not and nowhere do Brother claim it to be. If you want a reasonably priced A4 printer/scanner for home/office use it is fine.

Ink is good, you can use draft to save ink. Double side option too. I'm quite impressed. Full Colour copy takes a while, which you are made aware of. So I use draft for that too.
