and cook them the recommended way!
Be sure to read the directions, and cook them the recommended way!! I messed up at first cooking them like normal quinoa. This is a different kind of quinoa than I typically find in the grocery store. Tastes the same, cooks differently. However the recommended cooking process (cook in boiling water and strain like noodles) is way easier so I came to like this better than typical quinoa.

Pasty wet mess after cooking
I purchased this product without any reviews, mainly because it was Canadian and priced well. I cooked it as I usually do for quinoa using the usual quinoa to water proportion. However, it turned wet, pasty and slimy after cooking. A second cooking cycle didn't help to make it dryer. I then read the bag and it states that it should be cooked like pasta. Seems pretty inconvenient. Sucks that I have an almost full bag as well as an unopened bag. On a positive note, the taste wasn't bad (if you ignore the slimy).

Too expensive online but I LOVE the product!
If your turned off by the bad reviews don't be! You just need to know how to handle this stuff. The first time I encountered this I was a little stumped. Bought this at a box store in the height of COVID because everything else I'm not allergic to had been sold out for months.First batch fixed per usual method was a disaster, second batch per directions was still a disaster just slightly less so.First tip RINSE it VERY well. This stuff is the most poorly processed quinoa I've ever had but bear with me its worth it in the end.The way I choose to use this is like how you'd use a short grain rice. Risotto, rice pudding, ect because it's loaded with amylopectin (the stuff that makes tapioca.... Well tapioca).I use a 1:4 ratio. So for instance for "rice" pudding I use 1 cup quinoa to 4 cups coconut milk and cook per the usual merhod (all ingredients on the pot bring to a boil, then simmer for about 20 minutes). Raisins, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla YUMMM!As soon as i found what worked I sent searching since it dissappeared from local shelves. It's VASTLY overpriced here I paid less than $8 for a bigger bag at the store. But I really love it and when it dropped to $11 I went for it and I'm happy to have it in my cupboard again.

Good price. Bitter flavor
I have never had golden quinoa before so I did not know it was more bitter than white quinoa. I tried rinsing it and that did not make a difference. The texture is also different, while white quinoa is somewhat fluffy, this seems to clump together more and have more of a wet texture. I will finish it but it's not my favorite.

Love the product, worry about my logic
I add this quinoa to either rice (for dinner) or hot cereal. A natural-product nutrition boost. I like that it advertises that I don't have to wash it. Consumer Reports, at least with respect to fresh produce, wants us not to believe "pre-washed", but uncooked quinoa is so tricky to wash that I just take the leap of faith. So far, so good (but it's hitting the ground that hurts, not the falling). My other "reasoning" is that it's not not from Bolivia. I'm pretty sure that with the popularity of the grain among North Americans, that Bolivian, Peruvian peasants are forced to grow it as a cash crop and can't afford to eat what they grow. That thought just makes the Canadian product a little more palatable to me, but I probably have it all wrong. Anyway, cooks good, tastes good, full of fiber and protein and vitamins.

Quinoa for my body and planet.
I don't know about the people complaining about the product but mine cooked up just fine and was also delicious. Dirt? Mine was just fine right out of the bag, I fed it to my child whom I happen to love. A ripped bag? So what, blame it on the shipper and get a new bag, compost what fell out in the box. I guess it's competitors that don't like this fine product coming to market.I've switched from my regular bowl of white rice with a little pat of butter for dinner to a bowl of quinoa with a pat of butter for many reasons. Mainly the healthfulness of quinoa but it also doesn't have the negative environmental impacts that all my other sources of protein or carbs have on the environment. This stuff is the real deal, healthful, filling, tasty, sustainable and inexpensive. So I just had a bowl, it's good and everyone else liked too. This 4lb bag isn't going to last us very long.

Gets way too mushy in a rice cooker
I love quinoa. I cook it in a rice cooker, because that's convenient for me on the road, and also, I've found, in the house. I've used probably 10 different kinds of quinoa, and NorQuin is the only one that turns to mush in my rice cooker. To be fair, the instructions say to boil it like pasta, and to stop cooking after a certain amount of time, and I found the resulting cooked quinoa to be satisfactory, but not great, when I follow those instructions. However, I prefer the versatility of every other brand of quinoa I've tried, so I won't buy this again.

Tasty
I loved this quinoa, not sure why all the complaints? It has it's own pronounced flavor. I like it better than other quinoas.
