SUCH an underrated series
Peter Pan + Lord of the Rings + TitanicPeter and the other orphans he has grown up with are being sent away from the orphanage/school they have grown up in. They have been sold into servitude, but must travel by ship to get there. Along the way, Peter meets a friend, Molly, and is also allowed by a strange box. As always, there be pirates along the seas...This is one of my favorite series of all times! I’m sorry that I let the insane work hours take priority over keeping track of the series. This is one of my rereads that has me more excited for my reread than new books this year. Also, between a combination of time and memory loss after a medical procedure, it’s like I’m reading it for the first time again.Ridley Pearson’s daughter asked her Daddy how after and a pirate met, and this is the result. It is one of those stories that may be classified as middle grade, but easily appeals to young adults and adults alike. The world-building is marvelous, with the bulk being new masterful storytelling with touches of classic J.M. Barrie to summon loving nostalgia. Characters, new and old, are well fleshed-out and brought out string emotions from this reader. Greg Call’s illustrations are jaw-dropping (THAT COVER!!)!Buy this for yourself or anyone who loves retellings. If you’re twisted, get it for someone who gets seasick.

Answered a Burning Question
I've been a huge fan of Peter Pan for a long as I can remember and this series answered one question for me that anything else written had yet to answer. How does a baby, who states he left his home the day he was born live in a place where he is not supposed to age, but ages anyway? Well, this book fully answered that question as well as gave an interesting new take on how Peter Pan came to be. I randomly found this book after reading The Child Thief and thought it would be fun to go on a Peter Pan kick since I am using the movie in my ELL class so we can talk about the idea of wanting to remain a child. I will be able to use parts of this book in the lesson, but more than anything, this book was a fun read.

A reboot/reimagining that delivers for kids and adults!
Peter and the Starcatchers is an amazing read! It's worthy of being part of the Peter Pan mythos and is deserving of its own adaptation. The authors did an amazing job reinviting the world and characters of Peter Pan, while also introducing new ones to help create its own world. And speaking of which, the world itself is full of life and wonder. The writing itself is reminiscent of an old age that is no longer used in this day, one that immediately throws you into the world with no problem. One of the best stories I've read in a long while.I give Peter and the Starcatchers a 4/5 and a "Worth buying for your collection" approval rating!

terrific fun!
Peter and the Starcatchers is a very inventive, fun book for any age. if you've seen the Broadway play and expect it the book the be exactly like it, you might be disappointed... or you might like it just as much, as I did. the language is in keeping with a book from Barrie's time, tho not as overtly formal. the characters, especially Capt. Stache, are sometimes a bit over the top, but that's just more fun for me. Each of the short chapters ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, so they're perfect for reading before bedtime with children. You just want to read on and on! Molly is a great heroine (Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson both said they wrote this book for their daughters, so Molly is a strong heroine). Peter is clever and brave, and you can certainly see how he becomes Pan. Some of the violence in the latter half of the book took me a bit by surprise - the sharp-toothed "mermaids," pirates and Slank clubbing the children, etc. but, you know, that's what pirates did back then and Peter Pan had its own violence. I love a good swash and a bit of buckle, as Black Stache says in the stage show, so i found this book quite good. you also get lovely "back stories," like how the crocodile began to tick, how Hook lost his hand, and where John Darling got his top hat. That part almost made me cry.

Great book!
This was a great read. Fast paced. Clever. Endearing. I would def recommend this to any one of any age. Espcially if your a fan of Peter Pan.My only problem with this book, is toward the ending. It was more of a set up for the next books. Which is fine, I guess. But it could have had more natural ending and the reader would know one of two things 1. A sequel book is coming. Or 2. Well, we know the Peter Pan story. But other than that the book is near perfect for me.

Fantastic!
I loved this origin story about Peter Pan. It is perfect for elementary students on up. The action starts from the very beginning and doesn’t let up. Perfect for a class read aloud. Even the most reluctant readers will find it hard to resist wondering what will happen next.
