The Clock Repairer?s Bench Manual: Everything you need to know When Repairing Mechanical Clocks (Clock Repair you can Follow Along)

I found this book to be excellent resource.
With my background of being a Machine Tool Repair Tech for 40 years I found working on mechanical clocks pretty easy. With this book though, it greatly enhances ones knowledge base, especially with repair techniques. The book does not cover all attributes of mechanical clocks but it does have a enormous wealth of information.

Great book for those who want to learn
I was looking for a book to learn about clock repair that would cover all of the primary bases and include enough depth so I could put into practice what I read. This book was perfect for me. It covers a wide variety of topics with plenty of detailed facts and descriptions. The author includes suggestions and methods for those who are just starting their clock fixing journey who are not experts and don't have all of the tools, yet. I have purchased many other books since this one and none of them are as complete and good as this one.

Best of the clock repair books I've purchased - but poor photos
UPDATE: I'm taking off a star from this overall excellent book because, as other reviews have noted, some or many of the photos are of very poor quality and it is nearly impossible to see what the author is trying to convey with them. The problem is, I suspect the images were created in color then printed in B&W. That makes color choice very important as colors in B&W become gray and blend in with one another. An example are the photos in the section on rack and snail set-ups. There are arrows to parts that cannot be made out - at all. It's just low resolution photos with arrows that disappear over the image of the mechanism. I got my Ansonia R&S movement working properly, but in this case it was only marginally with the help of this book.ORIGINAL: I really enjoyed reading this book and have learned a lot from it. I also have Penman's excellent repair book, but that book is so advanced covering, to me, repairs way too esoteric for the causal amateur horologist that I find it nearly useless - but it is an excellent reference for anyone venturing that deep into the weeds in clock repair. I also have Conover's Strike Mechanism book that is also excellent and I've use as a reference for adjusting strike trains, but everything I needed to know with some additional information is also contained in the Clock Repairer's Bench Manual, plus so much more, for less money, that this book could easily be the single repair book most people will need. What I particularly like about this book are the references to actual products one might want to buy, including specifically from Timesavers. While the items mentioned may or may not still be available and the pricing is almost certainly out of date, I find it makes the book's sections more real and relevant.Personally, I'm happy owning all three book and will probably buy another Conover book just to have it, but if I were to be asked to recommend one book, it would be this one.

Great resource
It appears to have been written and edited by someone who has been working on clocks for years, so I think you get a first hand account of his experience. The pictures could be more professional but again I think they are authentic and are a very good representation of what was done and what you need to do.

Best first book for clock repair
I enjoy reading this book and applying its directions. Easy to use and understand. Apart from from some minor, and amusing, typographical and typesetting errors, it is highly recommended.

Shoddy copywriting and printing, interesting content
Typographic (typo in book's title on front of book!) and printing defects (eg consecutive pages attached to one-another, ink drop-outs) but interesting content
