After 17 years my original fiberglass dipstick was coming apart, starting to fracture halfway up the length. I was afraid it was going to snap off and give me a major headache.After reading the mixed reviews I took a chance on this item. One review said the handle was too tight, another said the length was too short, another said the dipstick was too stiff. None of these criticisms proved correct in my experience. The dimensions of the dipstick are clearly displayed in the description and I confirmed it would work on my car before ordering (assuming the vendor's description was correct).12 hours after ordering it arrived on my doorstep and I'm happy to say that it fits my car perfectly. The two o-rings on the handle are sized perfectly for the dipstick tube (I put a thin coat of oil on them before inserting the dipstick). The working length is identical to the original dipstick, which I compared. The legibility of the metal tip is perfect and a major improvement over the original plastic one. Regarding its stiffness, this dipstick slides in and out of the tube easily, much easier than the original fiberglass dipstick ever did and it does not thrash around when I remove it any more than the original did.This Mini dipstick is attractive, durable, and an upgrade over the stock fiberglass one. It's also cheap insurance against the fiberglass dipstick break off and needing to remove the front of the car to retrieve it.

Works as advertised. Not the easiest to read but better than the original.

The dipstick is 1 inch too short in it Hass to be sent back

The OEM dipstick in my 2005 MINI Cooper Convertible S (R52) was almost broken in 2 places and needed replaced. I saw several posts about this in groups and decided to try it. It is solidly built and is the exact same length as OEM. I find this is much easier to read than the OEM as well.

Very poor design. This "dipstick" is made out of a coiled spring, like a bass guitar string, not from a braided wire rope, as is a good alternative to the more common spring steel blade. As a result, it is way too flimsy and bendy.In addition, the tip, instead of being rounded and smooth to glide along the inner wall of the guide tube, is sharp and pointed.The combination of these two misguided "design features" results in the dipstick getting stuck part of the way down the tube, not allowing full insertion.Being sent back. Avoid!

I can confirm this dipstick works for a 2014 mini Cooper countryman S r60 n18 engine.Everything fits and work like it should. The only minor issue is it doesn't go in and out as smoothly as the original but that doesn't bother me.I'm happy I made this purchase

The finish and quality is really pretty good, and it reads nice and clear like it states but the head of the dipstick is a tight fit in the tube. I’m worried over time it might be quite difficult to pull it out to check the oil but so far a good tug is sufficient.

You can actually read this dipstick very easily and quickly. It gets hot so watch out. All and all a good upgrade from stock.

The dipstick feels quite high quality, one slight concern is that it is quite flexible, this can make it awkward to read as it can flop over and this can make it difficult to hold onto. However, there is a grub screw at the end where the handle attaches, you can remove this and this allows you to shorten the length of the dipstick if you need to. The only other concern is the size of the bung. It is quite large, meaning if your dipstick tube is not quite large in diameter this dipstick will not seat properly

As per the image, the dipstick is way different. Would give a false reading for oil level on N14 and N18 (R56-R58)We’ll engineered really nice piece of kit.
