Yes. Yes it can. This is so simple and such a game changer that it's hard to believe no one has done it before now. Brilliant. And took about 5 minutes to install. Works great right out of the box, I haven't even downloaded the software yet (but it's on the list).Works so great that I bought a second set just in case. Multigame systems are impossible to play without this and I don't want to take any chances.And yes, you can control two controllers with a single button. There seems to have been some confusion on that elsewhere.Fantastic.

Excellent design and very well made. Looks like it will hold up to heavy use. Easy to hook up. A must for a multi-game cabinet. Recommended!

I had waited a few weeks from purchase to do my review.I wanted to test it out and see how well it holds up without having to readjust any settings I made on the 4 then the 8.And I am amazed it works so greatWe spent time setting up square and Diamond on the pc for our pi also added the script to auto select into gamesAnd it works wonderful and the joystick has not moved out of our settings with weeks of testingThat said, this is a great product and ideaMakes switching simple ! Oh and the 4/8 way button we preferred no light and the Customer help was fast and got us to a no light set up.So great so simple so recommend!

Wow, I have been playing my 4 way games with the 8 way gate and have been getting mad everytime there was a "glitch" (game reads the two switches and doesn't do anything proper)....looked for options and found this... hesitated for a while...wished I had this a year ago when I built my machine! Instantly great, I havent even fine tuned it yet and it is so much better. Seemed like a lot of money for what it does, but worth it! Hope it holds up over time! Install was a breeze!

I've been waiting for this product for over a year and I'm happy to report it lives up to all my expectations. It is dead simple to install if you just wanna press a button to switch between 4 and 8-way, but you also have the option to make the switch AUTOMATICALLY based on what game you load! The automatic software switching is only for Raspberry Pis and is not a simple install, but it works like magic. "Detroit Love" on YouTube has a step by step video on how to do it that helped me tremendously.

I have looked for a solution on how to change joystiks from 4way to 8way without the need to remove your control panel and switch restrictor plates. In the past I have purchased and tried the Ultimarc Mag-Stick, though that stick can change from 4 to 8 by pulling up on the joystick, the throw distance is VERY short and I disliked how the stick felt. Here, finally, is the perfect solution from Glen's Retro Show! This small motor powered switch allows actual Sanwa (and Sanwa clone) joysticks to switch the restrictor from 4way to 8way and back with the simple press of a button. Everything you need is in the box, and outside of mounting a new button, set-up is a breeze! I highly recommend this solution for anyone with a MAME or Raspberry Pi set-up. Play Street Fighter AND Pacman the way they were intended with ease. **NOTE, you NEED to download the configuration utility and use it to manually line up the 4 & 8 way gate positions before use.**

To leave a review like this, I have to have my socks blown off... Let me start by saying I would pay 4 times the amount for this thing.! This review is not to explain wht this is... but for those who do, how perfect it its!I have been looking into this product for well over a year or 2. I followed the inventor of this and have been waiting until one was available to buy... don't know what happened but have never been able to make it happen..and I think I gave up looking. Then out of chance I saw they are now available on Amazon. I snatched it up, and was here in a couple of days.Fiddling with my Arcade one up mod for over 2 years I didn't hold much hope of having a total smooth instal. Moving the normal restrictor plate from 4 to 8 manually, I have had skinned knuckles, almost broken it... how would this tiny machine do it??Without a word of a lie, I had no hicups whatsoever!! Connected it all up, turned on the machine and voila instant success!! The shear joy of hearing the motor run on the joystick when pressing the button... NUTS!!! Thanks to the developer of this and whoever made this marketing of the product possible.

I love being able to switch from 4 to 8 way on the fly. These Improve playability on my multi-cade machines. Just make sure to plug it into your PC to tweak the settings for your machine. The initial settings may not be positioned properly for your particular device, but the links in the documentation will take you to the utilities to download for adjustments. I made sure to fine-tune each of the switchers before I installed them. Once you determine the position for one way then add or subtract about 50 from that positional value to set the other. That number seemed to work well for me. I have installed two in my AtGames Legends Ultimate (1.0) and two in my iiRcade (had to cut holes for the switchers to fit). I didn't cut button holes in either machine instead I just replaced the one and two-player buttons on both. So I replaced the player one button with the split button for selecting player one and player two and the previous player two button with the other split button for selecting 4 and 8-way switching. It's also nice to be able to adjust the buttons to match your machine's colors and/or set a specific color for each gate position.

This is an absolute must if you want to play some games that require a 4 way joystick and play other games that require an 8 way joystick.Fairly easy to install and works well on the Legends Gamer Pro. I bought a 2nd one and will now do my Legends Ultimate.The Extension Kit is required if you do not want to drill any holes in your unit.This is the only negative, the Extension Kit does not seem to be listed on Amazon.CA it is only on Amazon.COM which makes it more expensive.

Can't think of anything wrong with this product, very easy install and works good.
