MKEssentials 1G 13A Switched Fused Connection Unit with NEON & Flex

This new style is described as screwless but it still needs the two screws which are concealed by a clip on frame which makes it a poor choice for a public or shared area as I would imagine the clip on frames will be removed.The original 1070WHI with flex outlet also had conductor clamping screws designed for stranded cable and this one now just has input and output terminals more suited to solid conductors.The cable clamp is also of poor quality and I think my one is broken as the white part of nylon looks broken off (not 100% sure as it does not include any instructions).The old design also had the neon indicator wires already connected this one just has them loose needed them bundled in with the load wires.With the removable frame decoration may be easier but in all other respects the classic version is better (and cheaper).UPDATE: 12/08/19I can confirm the flex clamp is indeed broken on my one and I have added two more photo's with the old version on the left with output terminals designed for the stranded conductors found in flex.They have done a good job keeping all the connections in about the same place making the upgrade pretty easy.Also of course the more conventional cable clamp.I may be wrong but I think the new version has an LED rather than a neon lamp so hopefully that will last longer.

I love the clip off design on these switches as when you need to decorate it makes it so much easier, just unclip paint as you need to do and then put back. Great quality and backed up with a fabulous guarantee.

I am generally a fan of MK switches, but this one is not worth the higher price. It is a little tricky to fit the wires and the plastic seemed a little thin and brittle to me. I like the clip on cover style, but for this type of switch it is likely to be out of sight any way plus you have a flex coming out the front - so hiding screws is a bit uneccessary.

Great quality product like you can unclip the surround for decorating

I used this for an outdoor socket switch, so that it is not always live if someone was to come to my house and use my electricity when I am awayIt costs a bit but is worth it compared to a cheaper Chinese made bit of plastic which may break soon
