What I Found When I...
So here is what I found. We bought this because our "Little Green" was crashing and burning after 5 years of use. We have 2 German Shepherds, one who has "anxiety urination." After years of buying potty pads (she mostly gets on the pads, but sometimes misses), the Power Scrub is SO much easier on my back, my time, and my relationship with my dogs. Two weeks ago, I decided to try it on a room that we DON'T have a potty problem. Normally, we have a professional cleaner come in every 6 months and clean the carpets in our bedroom, guest room, office, living room and stairs (the Living room is where the potty problems happen), and since we had them cleaned 4 months ago, I wasn't expecting too much problems, but boy was I wrong. I moved all the furniture to one half of the bedroom and Vacuumed (it took 4 rounds of vacuuming before I wasn't getting anything back up) then I started using the carpet shampooer. I found that you really need to concentrate on a 4 ft x 4ft area at a time shampooing. I did 2 passes with the shampoo, then I used the rinse cycle. After 2 passes with the rinse cycle most of the soap was up, but dirt was still coming up. So I did one more pass with the shampoo, and 3 passes with the rinse. Again, it took 2 passes with the rinse to get the soap out, but the third pass with the rinse, and the water was mostly clear. Since we have a fairly large bedroom, it took most of 10 hours to shampoo the whole bedroom. But, since I put electric fans on the washed area as I finished the drying was pretty much complete within an hour of finishing each side (so the extraction is really good!) Here was the up side: I decided to go over it again, a week later, and it only required 1 pass with shampoo and 3 passes with rinse and the last pass of rinse was even cleaner, than the last pass the week prior! I was impressed, and I was disappointed in the amount of money we wasted for years on the professional cleaner, and it not really being cleaned. The Pros:It gets the carpet cleaner than, at least some, professional cleanersIt is easy to use, assemble, disassemble, and carryIt is great for small messes and large rooms and you can safely leave the clean water reservoir full and soap in the reservoir "on standby" for frequent small messesIt removes most of the liquid dispensed for faster drying timeIt is lightweight for easy carrying up and down stairsThe Cons:It is difficult to clean (the dirty water reservoir is easy) there is a connector on the suction area where excess dog hair and carpet fluff catches and you can't get it outThere is not a 1 to 1 ratio for the clean water and the dirty water reservoir, and you have to empty the dirty water MUCH more often than you fill the clean waterShort cord So I have to use an extension cord in open spacesThe plastic foam "filter" is difficult to clean (it catches excess pet hair)Tips:Press the soap/ rinse trigger on a forward push when delivering soap but not on the pull backAfter delivering soap, go over the area with no fluid deliveryTurn the dial to rinse cycle, keep triggered depressed on forward and back movement for the first coverage of the sectionGo over with the rinse cycle in a DIFFERENT directionGo over the section a 3rd time with NO water delivery until no more water seen being pulled upUse SLOW passes, you get a better scrub and better water removal.

Does a great job cleaning up after pets
I love this cleaner! I have two dogs and very light colored carpet in a rental home (why, landlords, do you so love oatmeal colored carpet?). My dogs are pretty clean, but everything shows on this carpet, and it was looking dingy enough that I assumed we would end up having to pay to recarpet the entire house when we move. However, I thought I'd try cleaning it, and went to rent a machine. I started doing the math and realized it wouldn't take long for this to pay for itself, so I ordered it. I am absolutely thrilled with the results! It made the carpet look and smell new. It's easy to use, relatively lightweight, and does as good a job as the rentals, if not better. For the price, I don't think it can be beat. The machine is easy to use. Vacuum the area well to pick up loose dirt and hair. You fill the solution reservoir with your cleaner (we went with the Hoover pet expert) and the other side with hot tap water. One tank did my entire bottom floor, and 2 did my stairs and top floor (my house is about 2500 sq ft, all carpeted in medium pile except kitchen and foyer). There are wash and rinse cycles (just rotate the dial to go between them). I found it best to go over heavily soiled areas and then move on to other areas, letting the solution work a bit, then go back and SLOWLY pull the cleaner over the area repeatedly. It got up red wine, an old coffee stain (don't judge me), and the general dog detritus and associated smell. The house smells really clean after use, but not heavily perfumed.Cons: difficult to use on my stairs because it's too big to rest on a stair, and the hose attachment isn't long enough to reach without moving the machine to the landing. I brought it down on my head a couple of times. It's awkward, but doable, to get stairs clean. It would be nice if it was adjustable to pile, because I have some high-pile area rugs that are hard to clean with this; it takes some muscle.Pros: great price, easy to find solution that works with it, doesn't get dog hair wrapped around the cleaning parts, does a great job cleaning pet messes, even old urine stains from when your rescue dog at first didn't get that the fuzzy rug isn't grass. Easy to whip out and use when something is spilled; I sometimes just use the suction and rinse when something spills and I can attend to it right away.I did try an "off brand" of cleaner, and while I'm all for store brands, I had much better results with the Hoover brand cleaner. I'd recommend sticking to it for pets.If you have pets that aren't perfect in their manners, and you're thinking you need this, buy it. It works great, is reasonably priced, and is easy to use. Highly recommend.
