My First Cheery Pitter
First cherry pitter I've ever owned and I'm glad I bought it! Works almost every time. I only use it for daily cherry eating, not for canning large amounts, but there has been two times when I thought the seed was gone and discovered It was still in the cherry. Saves staining your hands. It is mostly all plastic. I guess the stainless steel part would be the post that pierces the cherry. Cleans easily and stores in the drawer well with the locking device. It was a great item for the money. Glad I read the reviews before I bought it, because one person mentioned positioning the cherry stem down helped it work better and it did!

Like a hole-punch but for cherries
I have tried all of the "hacks" you see online for pitting cherries, but nothing is as efficient and easy as this gadget. As long as you pit them over a bowl and have a towel down for extra sprayage, there is minimal mess. My hands were the most messy, and that is not an issue as I can easily wash them versus my counter being covered in cherry juice. As a cherry lover this is one of my favorite purchases for my kitchen. I pitted a whole bag in no time at all.

Very Satisfying Pitting This Quick
We had a bumper crop of cherries this year! I contemplated getting a fancier model that mounts to the counter top however got this one.Works as designed I can blow through pounds of cherries quickly. There is a little flex in the handle side to side (minimal) just be sure to squeeze straight down. Would be nice if the bottom piece had a metal insert. The plunger nicked the side a couple of times and chipped it but that was user error. Squeeze straight down knocks the pits right out I don't line up where the stem was and it works almost as good if you take the time to a line the cherry top which I don't.

On the fence? I've got answers
This item works as advertised. I find it works best if you squeeze and release fast- it propels the pit with more velocity resulting in a cleaner exit hole. These cherries were slightly over-ripe, so it may not matter as much with firmer skin. The opening fits perfectly over a plastic bottle. With pit removed roll the cherry off the end into a bowl. No stained red fingers or having to wear gloves. I put bottle in sink to hold it in place & catch any juice. Process was quick & simple on 1st go. If you love cherries your belly will build you an altar. It didn't earn 5 stars bc the materials/build quality was slightly incongruous to price. But overall nice gadget to have.

easy simple effective
product is great. i noticed some comments saying how much it splatters— i found that when you hold the lever with your dominant hand, and use your other hand to hold the front (when the cherry goes) while you close it, it gives off hardly any spatter. it mutes the vibration.no splatter. easily gets rid of pit, fast and saves time, safe to use. 100% worth the money.

Not the pits
I was so tired of the mess and hassle that came with removing cherry pits—it just wasn’t efficient at all. Sure, I could buy jarred cherries, but they never tasted as fresh. This tool was a game-changer! The grip is solid, and it made the whole process so much faster and cleaner than what I was used to. It’s been a huge improvement and totally worth it.

Got cherries, get this putter.
Great product! We pitted 12 pounds of cherries in no time. It is sturdy. It cost about $10, which seems high for a piece of plastic with some metal, but I couldn’t hire someone for $10 to pit these cherries by hand. IMHO $10 is a bargain. I would buy it again.

Works, well-built
5 stars because it works and seems well-built. However, don’t expect to be able to quickly pit a bushel of cherries. This is strictly one at a time. Given that cherry season is short and that I only make a couple of cherry desserts during it, this is a great tool.
