Product Description ------------------- A 1: 18 scale precision model of the revolutionary Auto Union Type C, driven by Bernd Rosemeyer. The Type C used a new innovative design. The 520 HP v-16 engine was ed behind the driver and ahead of the rear axle. Although this is a normal race car practice today, it was ground-breaking in 1936. Top speed: 340 KM/h (211 mph). the Auto Union Type C is hand-assembled from 1026 parts into an extraordinary detail-exact model. The single parts are of high-quality materials: 23 parts of zinc alloy, 754 of metal or copper, and 153 of plastic. The remaining 96 parts are screws, rivets or simulated heads. This award-winning model (model Fan model of the year 2003, 2004 super-model of the year) is the exact replica that was developed by Ferdinand Porsche who wrote racing history like no other racing car had done before: in 1936 Auto Union presented with the Type C A Monoposto which was almost totally different from all the other racing cars known so far. What stood out especially was the unconventional design of the sensational 16-cylinder. V-engine installed behind the driver and in front of the rear axle, an innovation which soon became the accepted thing.
