Good Pictorial Reference
The author has done a good job gathering consistent content for every game in the book. The graphics are full color and for each game he has included a table of basic game info, followed by pictures of the titlescreen, a screenshot, cartridge label (multiple if different), and larger images of the front and back of the boxes. This is a unique scrapbook of Atari games and I can see that the author would have spent a lot of time gathering and organizing this information. I would have liked to have seen something written for each game; overview, storyline, facts, trivia, history, etc. but I understand this would have taken a greater effort. If you're collecting games and would like an all-in-one resource to know what is out there this reference (along with Volume 2) should be worthwhile. However, if you're looking for something to read and learn about the games or systems this doesn't contain that. The book is pricey but seems reasonable for what I presume is a print-on-demand order.
