Bought a $20 float to start and chlorine levels kept dropping low. bought this one after 2 weeks and chlorine levels higher in my pool and no need for other chemicals. Plastic is of much higher grade than the $20 float. Would highly recommend.

Perfect but no area to tie a string to

This floater is amazing! It's very sturdy for one, and it is HUGE. We are able to fit 2 3inch tablets in it easily and could definitely fit more. We have the chlorine tab in it and an arm and hammer tab in it currently floating in our new pool. I'm new to this pool care stuff as I've never owned one of this size. But this is definitely worth the money! It locks shut great so the kids won't open it just by messing around, we do however take it out while we are swimming(sensitive skin household). And you can adjust the holes/slits that allow the tabs to release/dissolve into the pool. I hope my review helps at least a little bit. Again I'm new to this pool maintenance stuff. But I can say that this is a much sturdier, heavy duty, floater than your average one you can get cheaper or at any store. Definitely recommend for a first time pool owner and for households who have kids that like to get into stuff.

This did the trick after I first purchased a kooky flamingo one that was made of rubber like a rubber ducky and then started taking on water, which rendered it completely useless after a month. It continuously blocked the flow on my intake and I was constantly having to remove it from the inside where my basket is. I bought this floater and fell in love at first site. It is sturdy, easy to open (unlike the flamingo which started off easy but then quickly became difficult to screw back together). I like that it opens from the top and you can simply drop the tablets in and close it without even taking it out of the water. If you overload this with tablets it will sink low enough to block your intake. I started off with just filling it up and quickly realized it was overkill. Put two 3" tablets in per week for a large pool, probably one for a small pool. I just check it often to see how much remains and if it is almost dissolved I just add another two. This will last and the cost is minimal. Get it, you won't be disappointed!
