Used these to replace a cheaper version of the same thing that had no way to disconnect the wires.Lamp cord comes in the base, up the center threaded tube, and connects to the socket - if you can't disconnect the wires from the socket, then you have to cut wires if you need to disassemble the lamp. New plug, or new socket.This was exactly what was needed to replace the socket. Easy, functional, very reasonable cost, and it fit into all the existing hardware one it was wired up.Will be happy to order it again if another one is required!

One of the things that bother me about this item is it was advertised as being UL listed. I don’t see where it’s UL listed, which is a disappointment to me. Otherwise it works fine and looks nice.

These simply get the job done. Converted two lamps for my girlfriend from single switch to 3 way in order to use 3 way bulbs, 50-100-150, as her compact florescents were simply dim and horrific, under relatively dark shades. These bulbs should do the trick. Connected very simply, nueutral to silver, hot to brass. Gave each wire a touch of solder so they wouldn't shred as I tightened the screw.

I was very happy that I could DIY. It was easy to replace my socket that wasn’t working without paying an electrician a large fee. Seems to be working just fine.
