My favorite pencil of all time! Hands down
My favorite pencil of all time. Why? So, I've always loved to draw, but my handwriting skills and long term stamina always decrease as I go. The unique shape of the pencil really eases the grip issue I have with regular, thin pencils. This just fits in your hand in such a weighty and satisfying way.The graphite is really smooth, and gives you a great point and a large level of greys that you'd want in a pencil. I appreciate the way it can get super sharp of a point for maximum control, but at the same time, keep that point for a while. It's obviously not "unlimited" sharpness, but for a pencil to stay this comfortable and sharp and durable and flexible at this price point, is hard to beat.I'm going to definitely try out their other products.

Great For Little Hands
My two boys (6&7) use these pencils for their handwriting practice. We like that they are shorter, thick and triangular shaped to help with gripping. We also like the quality of the wood used and also the way the graphite writes, it’s very smooth and also very dark without having to apply so much pressure. They are a must have for beginner writers.

Nice for kids learning to write
I wanted to love these, for they are the perfect size and sharpen well in the pencil sharpener with no broken lead issues. But the metal holding the erasers eventually give up their hold and become a chocking hazard as they fall off. Even the plier squeeze trick doesn't help enough. The eraser could be a little softer to be perfect, but better than the other brand of big chunky pencils we've used. Some have such terrible erasers and these are much better than those. I like that they encourage a proper hold of the pencil without having to add a pencil grip. The lead is soft enough to make a nice dark impression on the page without being too thick of a line to feel like pre-school. I like them and happy to have purchased them, though I wish for the price they were a little better.

Works great!
I'm not one to get excited about pencils, but these are awesome. Nice and think so I'm not breaking them all the time. The slightly triangular shape is a game changer too. I can't even began to imagine the amount of pencils I have had roll off my work bench and disappear into oblivion. No more! These bad boys don't go anywhere.

It seems better balanced than other thick triangular pencils enabling comfortable writing ...
A stylish and functional pencil. The Bear Claw has an attractive and distinctive look - colorful without being garish. It seems better balanced than other thick triangular pencils enabling comfortable writing or drawing for extended periods of time. The 2B graphite is lighter and harder than some No 2 or HB pencils. As a result, point retention is good, marks do not smear easily, and erasures are clean and almost complete. The factory-sharpened point, like the barrel, is also triangular which can be problematic. When used with small manual pocket sharpeners, it has a tendency to spin and not catch the blade. This is easily remedied with a single sharpening in a burr sharpener (classroom type with a crank) that rounds the point and the wood just behind it. Afterwards, it sharpens easily in almost any jumbo (9 mm) bore sharpener.
