Out in the Wild!: A Graphix Chapters Book (Bug Scouts #1)

Great for my bug loving reluctant reader
My 6-year-old first grader has been diagnosed with ADHD. It's difficult to get him to sit down and read. He's completely capable and can sound out words but loses interest super quickly. He's very into bugs and insects at the moment, so much so that he chose to be an entomologist for Halloween (his idea, not mine). I decided to see if I could find some bug books for him for Christmas. I ran across these and they are graphic novel/comic book form and are about bugs who are scouts. My son is also a cub scout. They are just perfect! I was so excited I didn't even wait to give them to him for christmas, telling myself that if he begins reading them right away then that's a total win for me! He was so excited he immediately read the first chapter to me in the early afternoon with only a little help on a few words. After that he needed a break, but that evening before bed he read another two chapters to me! He wanted to keep reading but I told him we needed to go to bed. I'm so glad I found these and I hope that they will make more in the series. I think that he will read them over and over again. There are not too many words on the page and there's good humor and I think that the reading level is appropriate for early readers, probably around a level one.

Funny Bugs Scouting and earning their stinkin' badges. Abby needs her badges.
A fun young reader comic about friendship, being outdoors, scouting, and danger. Doug, Abby, Luna and Josh remind us that we can be ourselves and be different from our friends and still be friends.Go on an adventure with these characters, then draw them and tell your own stories while you wait for book 2 to come out.Dad's read the book too, you'll get a bunch of new dad jokes to add to your joke collection. Ba dum bum.

My seven year old devoured this book
My kiddo ripped open the Amazon envelope, read the book in about twenty minutes, and didn't stop smiling the entire time. She only stopped smiling when I told her this was just released and she'll have to wait for more. I have a feeling it'll be re-read many times by the next release.

Fun book for a scout
My son is in Cub Scouts and I thought this would be perfect. He loved the story and the characters. Looks like a second book is coming out in October. I will be buying that one too!

Very cute graphic novel
This was cute. A bunch of bug friends who are scouts too. Going on an adventure to seek out new plants when they see a FROG. This would be great to introduce younger children to graphic novels!
