Lovely well made, high quality prisim. I have located it in my kitchen window and at certain times of the day, usually late afternoon, the sun hits it and creates a small rainbow in my kitchen. I have to search for it because it does not always appear where you think it might be. It has been fun for my granddaughter and me to look for it. That is the reason I bought it and I am pleased with the results even if they are a challenge to find!!!Elizabeth

Would buy again. Passing a brilliant green laser beam through the glass, there were little evidence of bubbles and discontinuities, unlike another prism I received recently, which was full of bubbles and other tiny flaws. Here the beams emerged as points rather than constantly changing fuzzy regions depending on the particular optical path. Pretty good quality for an inexpensive prism, I'd say.Casts a beautiful, reasonably sized rainbow flag on a flat wall when it's positioned correctly. Gorgeous, if that's what you're looking for.

I brought this along to the park with my 4 year old. Once we settled down from running around I pulled this out and showed her how we could use the light from the sun to make rainbows and she was enthralled. I was able to teach her how light could be bent and diffracted to show the many colors that make up white light, a very big lesson for a wee kiddo, but she has the idea well in hand and has since showed mastery of the idea by drawing it in her pictures. A great teaching tool, that gets the basic science across easily. You may only need it once or twice, but that shows it’s great for teaching. After that you have a fun item you can pull out and use for a variety of projects.

Be aware the corners are very pointy and edges almost a bit sharp though. For photography it needs to be kept away from other gear it might scratch, as a result I don't often find myself packing it as much as I'd like
