How long is the power cable with this unit?  If I'm putting this on my roof how am I supposed to power it?

The power entry unit is thru the splitter and you can place it anywhere that the RG6 cable passes near a 110 recepticle.  Plan for this.  It doesn't have to be placed at the amplifier, which should be placed just under your eave to protect it from water entry, though it is sealed.  Make the cable from the antenna to the amplifier as short as possible, but protected.

will it work on a digital antenna

Sure.  I build antennas all the time and I get perfect pictures for about $15 in materials and 30 minutes of my time.  I have no problems using any signal booster on my antennas.  Really, it is just the signal that is digital and most any antenna can get a digital signal . . . but the signal booster does just what it says, it boosts the signal that the antenna receives.  Careful to buy the right booster for your area (there are two models) as one will overdrive the signal and your reception will actually be worse.

Can the amplifier be installed lower on the mast without it losing power?

It may still work for you, that will depend on how strong or weak your unaplified signal is. If your in an area with a weak signal you will want the feel from the antenna to the amplifier as short as you can get it, around 1.5  - 2 feet. The longer the cabling is from the antenna to the amp the more signal strength you loose before it can be amplified, which can lead to pixelation etc.

Cabling is not that expensive, try it longer if it works great, if it needs to be closer then get someone to help you make it shorter.

If you are only talking 10 foot or so it probably won’t make that much of a difference. I will say make sure you have GOOD quality cable going from the antenna to to the amp. If you have old crappy cable feeding the amp you can have a lower quality signal going into the amp than if you were using good new cable.
