Inexpensive, budget wheel that works!
This inexpensive wheel is not going to have the quality materials of a $1000 pottery wheel. Everything is made of thinner and lighter material. BUT for the price it is an amazing value. The folks, who designed this wheel, were able to pull together a well-functioning wheel with modest materials. In short, it works and seems to work quite well. I've not had it long enough to speak to its durability. The wheel is low, so you will need to raise it about 8 inches, depending on your preferences. I started out with a pair of concrete blocks, which seemed to be about right for me. But because I needed to move the wheel about from time to time, I built a small lightweight base out of scrap wood. The wheel has more power than I expected. I've centered 3 lbs of clay with ease and the motor did not slow. Something to consider is that the overall weight of the wheel is around 25 lbs. So, if you are going to lean in for centering larger pieces, you may want to place the wheel against a wall or something heavy so that it does not move. The foot control is very responsive. I can slow it down to a crawl. The high end speed seems about right for centering. All in all, it was an excellent buy.2024 UPDATE: The speed control has become very difficult to adjust at the lower speeds. When trying to increase the speed just a little, it speeds up rapidly and has destroyed a couple of pieces that I was throwing. I suspect it is the foot pedal. I checked inside and found that it uses plastic gears and I suspect that it now has some play in the speed adjustment. Bummer.

Wonderful Value for the Price
This is a great beginner wheel. It’s very short so I made a stand for it to lift it up about 10 inches. I prefer to throw sitting down but you could put this on a table and throw standing up. I have only thrown about 2 pounds but that’s enough for a mug or small vase so it’s a great place to start. I love the black handled trimming tools which really add value to this wheel. The splash pan is a little flimsy and I’m not sure how long it will last but so far it comes off easy for cleaning. I love that the wheel head is slightly bigger than most beginning wheels. It doesn’t have bat pin holes so you have to throw directly on the wheel. Overall this is a great value for the beginner potter to get in some practice

Useable, but a little weak for firm clays
I got this on sale because it was cheap and came with a step controller which for me was a must. It works as intended, the tub is a little cheap though and need a little finicking to get it into place in a way that it doesn't affect the wheel. My first throw was with Terracotta, which ended up being too firm for it because when I applied pressure to the clay to both center it and get good cohesion to the wheel, it slowed down the motor significantly- I'm used to working with firm pressure and strength. The first pot was a failure, the clay was too firm and kept creating friction even with a sponge pressed to it. The solution I found for the terracotta i was using was to wet it a little and beat until it softenedMy second throw was more successful, but centering was still a pain more so than I'm used to at studios. I would recommend using a softer more malleable clay than terracotta with this wheel, and to find a way to immobilize it since its light enough to accidentally nudge.Overall if your using cheap soft clays like talc or the x-15 they sell at hobby lobby, you should be fine. Just if you want to work on larger, denser, and heavier pieces I would not recommend this wheel due to the somewhat weak motor.

Defective product with a wobble
UPDATE: The wobble on this wheel has made it impossible to use. In the video, you can see that the wheel underneath has a really bad manufacturing defect which makes it wobble and therefore, the wheel head above also has the same wobble. You can also see that there’s burnt parts underneath and i think it’s part of the manufacturing defect as well since this product is new and should have clean paint underneath. I saw this product listed on Home Depot’s website for double the price and I’ve also seen other people’s reviews complaining about this product’s wobble here on Amazon. It makes me wonder if this particular vendor, VEVOR?, sell all their defective products at half the price here on Amazon. This product is not usable and I would like a refund.Original review: The wheel itself is pretty powerful for a beginner potter like myself. What makes this product hard to use it the fact that it has a slight wobble so it is hard to center and even more difficult to throw a piece that has even walls.

Good starter wheel and don't plan on being a production Potter with it though
Not very strong, You might be able to throw 3 lb of clay. The weakest thing about this wheel is the plastic foot pedal. It is awful. I've had to open it up and reset it numerous times. That being said, if you're just starting out and not sure if pottery is for you This is an inexpensive way to try the hobby

Can’t beat the price, works great. Would recommend
The media could not be loaded. Works great. I am a beginner, it fits my needs to learn the basics. It is very easy to clean, the pedal control is awesome. Easy to level. I have mine set on bricks in my garage. No shake with wheel rotation. I have thrown about 20 items prior to writing this. I have noticed some black on my wipe rags. Not sure if that is from the aluminum alloy bat. Also the reverse switch works well. Wish the cord was a bit longer.

Amazing pottery wheel
Excellent product. This pottery wheel goes forward and backwards. It has various speeds. It holds a 14-in batt and has no pins. It has an on-off switch as well. I enjoy working on this wheel.
