Great pants for hiking and plane travel. Stain resistance added bonus! Stretchy and comfortable.
Recently purchased these pants for my husband. We were planning a cross country flight (in an airplane, not like, flapping our arms) and wanted comfortable pants to travel in.Our criteria: lightweight, breathable, pockets, stretchy, water resistant. These fulfilled every one of those needs! They were more slim fitting, I guess a modern fit you might say, than my husband's usual around the house jeans. But they looked great and were very comfortable. The best part was the material is stretchy and the legs have so many darts/easing seams, whatever you call them, that he could drop down into a crouch with ease. This makes them ideal for hiking up and down hill trails or airport stairs, quick stepping across the airport to make a connecting flight. They were also excellent for comfort on the plane. While being a slim fitting design they did not pinch or cut in any where. Just perfect, his opinion. The water resistant/repellant feature came in handy for more than just rain. While it was fantastic out in the light drizzle we experienced, the water beaded and rolled off, these really impressed mid flight. My husband had ordered a tomato juice to drink and the cup bobbled and splashed tomato juice down his leg. he reached down with a napkin and the juice was already rolling off! He was shocked, normally a tomato juice spill is an "uh oh forever stain" sort of moment. In fact the pants were so good at repelling the liquid that the juice just ran down and soaked into his sock! Later, when we got to where we were staying he laid the pants out with the leg that got the spill and the sock he was wearing on that foot and the pants looked fresh out of the dryer whilst the sock had a new set of forever tomato juice stain polka dots!VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!He wishes the socks were as water repellant as the pants...er...He wore these pants not just on the flight but through a lovely wooded trail in rural Canada. Up hills and down, down steep steps to rocky beaches, up rocks to a waterfall and back. They were comfortable the whole time. The slim leg design means he was able to tuck them into his socks when we were in another park that was quite mosquito-y.While lightweight they did get a bit warm in the humid, summer climate but not overwhelming or anything. They'll be perfect for moderate temps. They are more spring and fall pants unless you need the skin coverage in a brushy area or mosquito-y area.He commented that he doesn't use the back pockets and with the modern, slim fit style you couldn't really be shoving much in them. He preferred the front pockets. Was able to carry a large square wallet and a large cell phone etc with ease where they'd be most accessible. These are great pants, worth the investment. The fit was EXACT...so if you do not like a slim fit or prefer a looser pant you may want to size up.He had to walk about and try them a few moments before declaring them good when he first tried them on as they seemed "small" compared to his baggier jeans. But they turned out very comfortable.

Great pants that have quickly become my favorites
Love these things! I have two pair and they are my go to pants if they're not in the laundry. They are comfortable and versatile and they look nice enough to wear as everyday pants, but are great on the trail as well. They have a very nice fit, not baggy, but not restricting either. They have plenty of flex for just about any situation and the weight of the material is just about right in my opinion. They are light weight enough to be comfortable in warmer temperatures, but can be worn in cooler temps as well, although I wouldn't recommend them for long days outside in freezing temps. Length is right on, but the waist seems to run just a bit small, but not to the point where they are uncomfortable. It actually works out pretty well since I don't need to wear a belt with them if I don't want to. Bottom line... If you are considering buying these, do it, you won't be disappointed.

Built for exploring: Lewis and Clark would be envious!
I say they fit as expected because they fit as they should, just not how I wanted them. Waist fit great, length was too long (my own fault). I was overcompensating a little and wishing I had a 32" inseam. In reality I am 5'9", 175ish lbs. Average build, not super muscular, but not "skinny" for the lack of a better word. I exchanged the 32x32 for a pair of 32x30 and I'm very happy with how they fit, but unhappy that I am height deficient. As far as the "fit" goes they are relatively slim through the waist, thigh, and knee area, with just a small amount of flare from the knee down. I would categorize them as "slim-straight" pants, versus just slim or straight. They definitely have attributes of both. Comparable fit to Levis 513 or 514, just a tad looser. As far as performance goes, they are super comfortable with pretty decent stretch. Even with said stretch they keep their shape. I was wearing them around town the first time and spilled coffee on them and it rolled right off, DWR for the win!! I also got some pen marks on them when I was at the office (I promise it was just one of those days, I'm not usually that clumsy) and it came right out with just applying some water and dabbing (the stained spot, not the ever popular dance move of 2016). That being said, I will be testing these bad boys out in October for a week long camp/hiking trip. I have a pretty good feeling about them. I bought two pairs and would love to get more colors. As far as sizing goes, just be honest with yourself and you're going to love the way these feel and look, I guarantee it!

Replaced my Ultimate Roc Pant.
Have been wearing the Columbia Ultimate Roc Pant on my travels since 2012. Decided I needed a change so ordered the Royce Peak Pant.Fits a little better than the Roc pant which is loose fitting. I'm 5'10 and 190#. Pant does stretch and is very comfortable. It was great on 10 hour flights and drips and dirt did not seem to cling to omni shield material. The material thickness is comparable to Roc pants and keeps out the cold air. Like back pockets better which have an overlap Velcro closure which keeps my wallet from falling out. There are 8 sturdy belt loops. Zippers are plastic not metal like the Roc. Stitching at the knees are neat when your sitting. Overall great pants. Lasted a whole week on vacation without washing, just shook out and hung up and it looked great. It dried overnight when I washed and hung out. 96% nylon. Bought this second delta or khaki colored pant. It also wears well but shows the wrinkles more that my darker grill colored pair. Now I hope they will last as long as my Roc pants.

Not a great fit
The pant is a bit small in the seat and upper leg area . If you are a slim person they will fit better ...
