It just works.
It's pretty basic. You plug it into your computer, and a COM port appears. It does what it says on the tin!I've been using these adapters for years. I hand them out to other techs when I have extras. You plug it in, and it works. Doesn't matter which version of Windows you're running. You don't have to go out looking for drivers. You just wait about 30 seconds if your laptop has never seen one before, and that's it.I really started believing in these when we decommissioned a bunch of monitoring equipment for a large retailer. I pulled one of these from like a dozen different sites. They had been installed for years monitoring embedded devices. Every single one of them worked just fine, and I never heard of a single one going bad out of my service area. There may be other USB serial adapters that are as seamless, but I haven't found one that doesn't need fussing depending on which Windows you're running. (Not tested on Windows 2k or earlier.)

Wrosk well and is a good value
I have used many pother brands of USB to serial adapters with mixed results. Every time I use the Tripp Lite version, it just works. No problems, not reloading drivers, no flakiness, etc. It just works. It is also a good value and holds up well to use

Must have for serial console communication
I used the Trip Lite USB-C to DB-9 serial adapter to configure a bunch of network devices through their RJ45 serial console port (using an RJ45 to DB-9 adapter) from a MacBook Pro. This is one of the few adapters in the world I have used on a Mac that didn't make me want to throw it away immediately! The driver installation worked without any issue, and with the driver installed the devices connected properly every time I plugged it in. I believe the driver isntallation process requires a reboot to properly load the module, and I can confirm that reboot is a requirement for it to work at all. When installing the driver, recent versions of OS X will block the driver isntallation and request that you open the Security preferences window to manually approve the driver. This is a security measures that the OS makes you perform manually, and the installer will inform you of this. It's nothing that the driver manufacturer has done wrong, simply a securrity choice that Apple has probably wisely made. The cable length was plenty long to sit on a chair in front of a server rack and configure gear mounted inside without needing to unravel the RJ45 to DB-9 cable, which was nice. But if you did unravel the RJ45 serial cable and the USB-C to DB-9 cable, then you can situate yourself somewhere more comfortable or even on a crash cart. Anybody that has spent hours on a data center or network closet floor will know how valuable this can be.I used this device in 9600, 38400, and 115200 modes without any issues. So it should work just fine for most serial console port in most gear I've seen on the market. But since I didn't use it at any other speeds, I can't 100% guarantee that it will work. The chipset in this device is extremely well rated, though, and the manufacturer does note that it will work from very low to very high speeds without issue.

Wow! One of these that finally just works
I have to use a few different types of RS-232 connected programming devices for my job and everytime I get a new laptop it is always fun trying to find a USB RS-232 adapter and its driver that will work with the Windows version that came on the laptop and the RS-232 devices . The latest laptop was a Windows 10 Dell with USB-C ports. This Tripp Lite USB-C adapter got good reviews and was cheap so I gave it a try. Well, it works perfectly with the RS-232 serial devices and it actually came with a Driver CD! The 5 ft cable length of the adapter is a bonus.

Efficient, reliable, and adaptable
I've been using this DB9 adapter for about 8 months solid now in both Military and civilian environments. From dust and dirt, to repeated stuffing in a cramped bag and left out in 120F heat. I've connected it to Windows XP SP3 (x32), Windows 7 x32 and x64 bit, I even connected it to my ASUS Transformer Prime (TF201) with the Slick USB software and could use it there even! I've connected it to all these devices with NO DRIVERS NEEDED. Every system finds the right driver and automatically uses it. It's been used to connect to GPS devices, Cisco RS232 adapters, survey equipment, SCADA equipment (Wind Turbines), and raw data dump devices, all without fail. I am purchasing another one tomorrow since a customer had some issues and needed one of these. So now I'm a repeat customer. In short, if you need a serial port on a computer/laptop/android device, look no further, this simple, and effective device works every time in some of the most needlessly terrible situations I've put mine though. It works reliably, plain and simple.

Well made USB C serial adapter
This one is a bit pricier than some of the others on Amazon., but I think it’s well made and does exactly what it says. I had no problems using it with both Mac and Windows and of course no longer needed a USB A adapter. Wouldn’t hesitate to order this again if a USB C serial cable is needed.

Not for Mac users
Over several days I attempted to download the drivers needed to recognize the adapter so that I could adjust the settings on my device. I tried it on an older Mac & IOS and a new one running the latest IOS.I never got beyond the actual downloading on either, despite getting an "installation complete" notice.Tripp Lite's support team did everything they could to solve my problem, spending three hours total with me on the phone, to no avail. So a big thumb's up for T-L's customer support.I returned it for a refund and bought another brand's adapter which worked right out of the box.My low rating is due to this adapter's failure to work with Apple Mac's, even though Tripp-Lite says it will.If you're running Windows, I imagine this adapter would be fine.

Gran calidad de tripp Lite
Muy buen cable, alta calidad, puede estar mucho tiempo conectado y o se quema el chip como otros, yo pedí este y otro USB-rj45, que aún no llega, pero esta es una muy buena opción

Nice cable.
Seems to be a very well made cable. Use it to update my tristar solar charger controller & worked great.
