Good clamp, accurate within a degree
Two thermal clamps were purchased. They are being used in HVAC applications. I tested both of them on the same pipe and they were less than a degree apart (.6 degrees F). I also tested them against a bead thermocouple with the same result. I also tested them in ice water along with the bead thermocouple and all temperatures were within a degree, same as before. As far as durability, I have only had them for a month. Clamps are well constructed.

Mine has been solid
Since others noted it is fragile - I have been very delicate with it and it has held up well. I have taken pains not to spill any liquids on it that might make the plastic brittle. I was able to easily get superheat with this clamp at a bargain price. Next year when I drag it out - if it breaks with time I will update the review. Until then I consider this a good rarely used purchase for doing HVAC work.

Worked great, cracked at hinge but still works
I was always careful with it since it’s plastic. I’ve always had it stored in my veto tech mc tool bag. Never beat my tool bag either, after about a half year of daily use it cracked at the hinge point. It still works, holds tension and clamps onto line set like normal. Bought it because it seemed good for the price. Every other similar one was way more. Going to price shop and I may just get another.4/26/23Today it broke on me in the earlier part of the day. Luckily I had another clamp and I was able to get by for the day. Of your crafty you could easily rig this to something simple like a clothesline hanger spring and have it clamp and still take temps.

inaccurate
This clamp is quite inaccurate for pope temps, tried it with 3 different meters and always off

perhaps you would like to do like the rest of us Professionals and ...
So I own a Fieldpiece meter and have always bought the Fieldpiece clamp. I would buy one every year because it would break under stress due to the heavy duty spring. Few years back I bought the UEI pipe clamp and never had any problem. I only bought a new one to replace my old one that was stolen. As for the review with a guy that mention the oil getting on it from the refrigerant hoses, perhaps you would like to do like the rest of us Professionals and remove your clams and other tools before disconnecting a refrigerant. hope this helps

So much easier
Got sick of taping up to line set, now I just clamp and take my readings like a modern day tech

THIS WORKS ITS NOT CCC
This unit works quite well with my meter and has a fast response. it works with the min/max function on my meter. It grabs copper pipe quite well from the suction side to the high pressure and liquid lines in my HVAC training at RSI. lastly its not cheap china crap, good out of the box.
