Excellent gel! both my husband and i use it. it has a great citrus kind of smell. i can use it for soft bouncing curls without hardening! works best paired with microfiber towel!

I found this stuff about 10 years ago when a stylist who specializes in Curly Girl styles used it on my hair. Oh my god!!! I had soft, full ringlets for DAYS. If you follow the directions (i.e. drying hair gently with a diffuser or air drying, using a generous amount of product, and protecting it with a satin cap at night), you will be thrilled with the results! When it is dry, the curls are soft and not crunchy. Best if used from a few inches from the scalp to the ends. Once you put it on, LEAVE IT ALONE and let it dry. You can use clips to lift areas if you feel the need. Resist messing with it, and it will form casts around your curls. One thing though: you can't comb though it after it dries. It will make your hair feel bushy and you will lose the curl. Wish I'd have known about this stuff when I was younger!

The fragrance is SOOO strong, it immediately flared up my asthma and allergies... editing to say, I do like the performance of the product.

This gel has been the absolute best. I have wavy curly hair and had a difficult time finding a gel that really worked well with me. This is light enough to keep the waves and has no crunch. It leaves my hair soft while holding curls all day. The scent is quite nice too. I’m so glad I tried it.Other reviewers have mentioned that this gel may not “play well with other stylers.” I used this with Briogio curl charisma leave in definer cream, and I’m having the best hair days ever. So I hope this helps. I plan to buy the definer prep lotion from this same line and see how that goes.

I have naturally curly hair. I’ve tried other products but this really defines my curls. It’s worth every penny and you don’t need to use a lot.

I was a bit surprised at the new short wide bottle and scent as this was not shown on the page when I purchased it. I don’t mind the scent and find the product still works very well hence my five star review. I have 1/3rd of the bottle left and the pump stopped working! Upon inspection the pump works fine it’s just too short and doesn’t reach for down enough to pull a majority of the gel before running out. I hope this is fixed before my next order.

The product itself is great, however after letting the Devacurl company know that I needed a replacement pump in July, they asked for proof of purchase, pictures etc. 2 months later❗️ I never heard back!! I didn’t ask for refund or new one only a pump to replace the broken one and nothing. Thank you to Amazon for YOUR help, they refunded my money and apologized for the Devacurl company dropping the ball on their customer support. Only after I reached out a second time to ask for the status of replacement pump, devacurl emailed me to tell me that they aren’t responsible for the product issue, Amazon is! Why didn’t they say that in the first email? Shame on the company for charging so much money for this product and not backing up their customers complaints. I ONLY WANTED THE REPLACEMENT PUMP ‼️ by the way, it was packaged fine which tells me that the broken pump wasn’t Amazons fault.

I've used Deva products for almost 20 years. I love how they work in my curly hair. They were the best and the previous version of this gel was awesome; light non-sticky hold, light clean smell. But the fragrance they've added to this new revision of the gel is so overwhelming, so sickening, I gagged every time I used it. The smell is so strong that I could actually taste it all day. I don't wear perfume but I can imagine that for someone who likes their perfume this scent would overwhelm it completely. I wrote to Deva customer service and they said they were sorry I didn't like the scent but it was "inspired" by the natural ingredients in the product. What a load of bull - as if being inspired by natural ingredients is the same thing as being a natural ingredient. I think this scent is completely toxic. Yes, they offer a strong hold gel in a fragrance free formula, but I don't need strong, sticky, stiff hold. I need the soft one. Devacurl - please change this back or make this in a fragrance free version! Happy to take down the negative review if you change it back to the amazing product it was!

Follow directions, I put in after I rinse with could water, in the shower. Comb through then I add some other product. The best soft curls.

Didn’t like this product at first - it is very watery , not really a gel but after several uses it does hold curl nicely and is not sticky when scrunched

My 15 year old daughter has long curly hair and she can't live without this product. Makes her curls defined, soft, and not frizzy without the crispy hold.

I used to love my light hold gel, I haven't bought the large bottle before, but found a great sale, so went for the larger container instead. I think they changed the product, it is runny and doesn't hold well.

Made my curls not defined and heavy. I also felt irritation using it in combination with devacurl supercream.
