Definitely worth the extra money compared to the other scratch world maps that I looked at. The packaging tube came inside of a rectangle box with a bit of paper around it. I didn't keep it from shifting back and forth, only up and down (lengthwise) of the box. There was no damage to the tube and absolutely no scratches on the map. The map also had a sheet of paper over it to protect it while in the tube. The map material is either plastic or just laminated, but it's definitely strong enough that there won't be any tearing while scrathcing the foil off. Additionally, it came with a pick looking things to use for scratching, several pin flags, and a miniature postcard. I The very outside border took a little extra time to scratch off, but the rest was simple enough. Also, I used a tea towel to gently wipe the foil away periodically. Lastly, a lot of the small island clusters aren't all named individually, of course, so I needed to reference an acutal map to make sure it was the right one.

Love this map! It came in a large cardboard tube and was inside a clear plastic package within the tube.The states are outlined on the gold scratch-off layer of my map and on the layer beneath it so I didn't have issues getting damage when opened. The gold also came off quite easily. The map has vibrant colors underneath. I'd give 5 stars because the poster is strong enough to be taped into a frame to hang. It is a shinny beautiful light gray with all the countries in a beautiful gold. i had it for over a year and still look like new.Because of the size, Is framed on a cork board and fits perfectly. The pictures attached should give an idea about the color.What I like the must about is that it doesn't look like a school map. Is in the family room and looks good because the color gold is very nice and the colors underneath are vibrant but not primary colors giving a more sophisticated look.It doesn't look like a school map but a conversation piece.

After leaving my first review I was contacted by the company to say that Amazon had fulfilled the order incorrectly and they would be happy to send me a new map for free. The new map that came was the correct color and looks great.```````Super bummed out because I looked at like 50 different options before landing on this map. I thought I was getting a light colored map with gold continents, what came was a completely black map with gold continents. The bottom legend is also different, it was a long and all the way across and not the tight middle square pictured. The final weirdness is that the whole thing wasn't even trying to be paper, it was completely plastic. I have never had a product from Amazon be so far off what I thought I was getting, and especially this being one of the more expensive scratch map options, I'm pretty disappointed.

I was hesitant to purchase at first due to the cost over other maps, but after receiving am very pleased with my choice. This map is beautiful. The gold is very pretty, it arrived in perfect condition with out any scratches or dents. It came with a small tool to scratch the gold off and pins. My husband and I decided to mount it onto a cork board so that we could use the pins too. Which leads to my only complaint: it is impossible to find a cork board that is the correct size for this map. They are either too large or too small. My husband and I will be making our own frame to work around this.I have not scratched off the gold yet but will update my review once I do.

Absolutely love this map! It turned out perfect. I bought it as a gift for my husband who travels the world and I had it custom framed at hobby lobby for $60. They put a board behind it as well so I could put pins in the map. My husband loves it! So far I have only scraped off the places I have been and it was so easy to scrape with the tool. The map underneath is beautiful and doesn't scratch while your scraping the gold off. When I walked out of hobby lobby with this I had about 20 people ask if I just bought it in there and I referred them here to buy it.

I actually own the black plastic 1dea.me scratch off map before this and loved it. So I decided to purchase this version that has different layout/info.While this map is bigger than many other scratch off maps sold on Amazon. The paper quality is really no different than the ones 1/2 the price (I purchased a smaller map for my kids, and this material is exactly the same). In addition, while the countries are laminated on to the paper, they are 1. Extremely hard to scratch off using the supplied tools; 2. The laminated area only cover solid land area with barely 1mm beyond the edge... Including tiny islands. And with the raised edge of the lamination, it's super easily to lift and tear off the laminate during scratch off. and 3. The large area s are also extremely difficult to scratch off. The supplied triangular scratch tool does not work.Does NOT recommend this at all. Save your money and buy one of the cheaper alternatives, or get either of the 2 plastic versions from them instead.

I don't write a lot of reviews, but I felt compelled to write one for this.This product is 10/10 better than I expected. It's made out of a high quality poster with a waxy finish. The scratch material is firmly on there so it won't easily rub off, but when using the provided metal scraper it very easily comes off while not scratching the poster below even when scratching briskly.The detail and accuracy of the lines above and below the foil is top-notch. I am so impressed with this product that I'm buying it as a gift for others and I highly recommend it.

This is the perfect gift for someone who has everything (like a dad). My father spent hrs scratching off the places he's been and has it proudly in his office.

Beautiful product. Well made. Very happy. Bought as a gift. If anything, it’s a little hard to scratch off the gold. It’s very easy to damage the map underneath so be careful.
