Totally three dimensional
In her books you get to genuinely care about the characters and this is no.exception. Both characters are well drawn and likeable people. The added bonus is that this story makes you understand what it is like to live your life in the spot light of the press and public opinion. If you have not tried Sarah Morgan before this would not be a bad place to start and if you are already a fan you will not be disappointed with this one.

Perfect feel-good read for the Summer
Sarah Morgan is one of my go-to authors when I'm looking for a heartwarming, feel-good read and she doesn't disappoint with her latest book Beach House Summer which features two women, Joanna and Ashley, who were complete strangers but soon their lives become entwined. Their paths might not have crossed in the most conventional of manners but in their times of need, they are both there to support and encourage one another to take the steps necessary to move on with their lives. From the outset I was asking myself what would I have done in Joanna's shoes and I'd like to think that I'd have been as welcoming, especially once the full details are revealed, but until you are in the same situation I don't think anyone really knows how they'd react. It also took guts for Ashley to take matters into her own hands even if the outcome ended in the most devastating of circumstances and left her feeling even more alone.I loved the whole concept of escaping from the spotlight to a remote beach side house to come to terms with the way your life has been turned upside down. For Joanna it's a chance to re-evaluate her life after putting up with so much from her philandering ex-husband who she still worked with running the business side of things. What's in store for her now? Whereas for Ashley, it's a chance to come to terms with everything and decide what she wants to do next.As for the setting, the Californian beach town of Silver Point sounded like the perfect place to run to for them to recuperate although for Joanna she also had some ghosts to lay to rest and friendships to repair having left the town so suddenly 20 years ago. But with the beach on your doorstep, and a vibrant community welcoming you with open arms, how could you not cast your demons and fears aside and make new plans for the future?Friendships, old and new, are at the heart of this novel and it was great to see both Joanna and Ashley blossom as the story progressed. Both women had suffered greatly in the past and it's only over time that they can heal and move on.I hope that this not the last that we see of Joanna, Ashley and the rest of the community of Silver Point even if it was just a catch-up novella at some point in the future.

A Lovely Book
I loved this book and I didn't want it to end. It had its happy moments and sad moments. What else do you need in a book. Joanna is divorced from her celebrity chef former husband but the press still follow her everywhere. When he dies in a car accident and it is known he had a young girl with him Joanna acts quickly to shield the girl from the press. She leaves her house in the dead of night and after collecting Ashley from the hospital they return to the town where Joanna grew up. She hasn't been back since she left twenty years ago and hopes she can hide away from her old friends but they want to draw her back into their lives again. A really lovely book and I would love to see a follow up. Would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

Perfect Holiday Read
What a perfect read, especially after the heatwave when the weather had cooled a touch in the UK and I felt like reading again. This was a delightful novel with a stunning California location, interesting characters and a plot I got happily lost in. This book held my attention from the first page until the last one and I didn’t want to put it down.I was actually a little sad that this book ended and this is very rare. It deserves all of its 5 stars and more for being so delightful, heartwarming and sunny. I liked the character development, the strength of the leading lady character and the second chance romance aspect. I definitely recommend this novel as a great holiday read!

In swoops ashley, the hidden daughter of Jos ex husband. Jo feels like she has to protect Ashley and takes her to her beach summer house. This is because ashley is pregnant and she is trying to keep her away from the press.Once they get to the beach house in swoops Nate, Jos ex boyfriend and her old best friend, Mel. Can Jo go back into her old life? She starts to feel things for nate apparently they never went away. Does Nate feel the same ?What's going to happen with Ashley's baby ?This book is a standard romance novel, I would recommend it to anyone that would like a steady read.

An unlikely friendship
Beach House Summer was the best perfect read after a few weeks of heavy going and emotional books. I love a typical Woman-Finds-Herself novel and this one ticked all the boxes. We see Joanna and Ashley form an unlikely friendship amidst a tragedy and over time they learn a lot about each other and themselves. Both of these characters are strong. They are similar in many ways but Morgan cleverly displays the different nuances of what it means to be an independent female across two generations. The characters were developed well across the book, with secondary characters also learning from the lessons as the book progresses. And the romance amongst it all is beautiful and subtle.I think my favourite things about this book was that there was no Fast Forward To Happy Families. One of my biggest bugbears with these kind of books is when the author visits the main characters years down the line and all is well and nothing has happened to disrupt their paradise. Morgan did well to avoid this, especially giving the main storylines in the book.
