Great latches
I’ve used these for a variety of wooden boxes and they are great latches. They are my number one choice. Very easy to use and reliable.

They will rust
I use these on a hatch on my boat. But they eventually rust. Have to replace every couple of years. It’s still a good bang for the buck

Bad screws
The screws that come with the latches are horrible. The heads broke off on all the ones I tried using.

I would have rated it a 5, but...
I like that these latches are big enough to hold a filing box-sized lid down tight. The metal is heavy enough gauge to do the job, although you need two of them if the box contains something heavy like tools, and the lifting handle is on the lid.I don't like that I have installed two of these so far, and I've twisted the heads off the included screws twice. This occurred even thought I had drilled pilot holes and was using only a hand-held screw driver. In the future, I'll try to remember to use screw wax in addition to the already mentioned precautions. If I stumble across a cache of #6 ½-inch screws made from better steel, I'll throw these cheap, weak screws away.If the manufacturer had spent an extra couple of pennies on better quality screws, I would have rated it a 5.All that being said, I'll buy these again because they were the largest clip latches I found on the Amazon website.
