I had seen prong type collars before, but I always thought they looked very inhumane. However, after working with a dog trainer, at her recommendation, I temporality put aside my apprehension based on her professional opinion and gave one a try. It worked so well, and required so little force or effort, as opposed to a huge amount of both when trying to control my dog with a regular type collar. I hated before using a prong collar how much strain and tension was on my poor dog’s neck when trying to walk with her, but that was eliminated when using this type of collar. I found that while it needs to be snug, if certainly doesn’t have to be tight, just like with a standard collar, and my dog actually looks forward to putting hers on now because she knows it means we’re going out. This is not the collar I have for my dog. Mine’s a girl, and she has a cute gold one. But I found myself needing to watch my brother’s dog for a week, a 90lb lab, without a lot of training, and on day one it became very apparent that a regular collar was just not going to work. That first day it was an excruciating tug of war just to walk around the front yard. I ordered this right away. I knew he’d like the black and silver colors, and I thought the removable, (and washable) cover was a nice feature. Luckily it arrived the next day, and the rest of the dog sitting week was much better for me and his dog. Just like mine, his dog was immediately far better at not pulling with this on, and requiring a mere fration of the effort to do so. They look like they’d be very uncomfortable, but the dogs really don’t seem to mind having them on. They don’t whine, nip at, or try to get them off. I can understand if you look at this, and think it looks terrible to use, I understand because I too felt like that, until I used one, and realized how much less stress on the dog’s neck this is, and how quickly they become accustomed to it and how effective they are. After returning his dog, he’s been continuing to use the collar, also with great results. Give it a try, just don’t put it on too tight, and don’t pull too hard, as it’s not at all necessary. I think you’ll be happier and your little friend won’t have a sprained neck.

The sturdiness and attention to detail is very much appreciated. The addition of the prong covers is a really great touch. It is easily adjusted to fit around my growing pups head. The only thing is that it looks incredibly bulky around her neck (and she is a big girl almost pushing 90 pounds at 2 years old). Besides the bulk, I love that the pretty color attempts to mask the fact that it is a prong collar. Many people would see me walking her with our old one and automatically assume she was vicious and make judgements or give dirty looks. She is not at all aggressive towards people or animals, however - she is a stubborn bully that pulls and does not listen unless the prong collar is on. This particular collar helps shield her from any judgement before they actually get to know her. It is pretty and comes at a great price point.

Love this collar, my old one broke and we struggled finding a new one that worked. I love that this gets buckled around the neck, don't have to slip over dog's head. 2 loops make it very easy and quick to attach leash. Padded prongs are nice, and collar overlay with buckle is a good detail. My dog pulls a little on the leash, and gentle pressure from this collar makes her stop. We took her camping and this collar held up in the sand and in the water! Loved it so much, bought another one for my Mom's dog!

Strong, durable, easily adjusted, and deserves every penny paid

DOUBLE CHECK ALL LINKS BEFORE WALKINGWorked fine for a walk, then crumbled like wet cake. Upon inspection found that one of the links had slipped and was reset with a lot of force. Works fine once it is set, but i will never forget or forgive that hour of chasing my dog around in traffic.

I have a two year old corgi Poms who’s very active dog and always pulled me. This is the greatest collar to be had. He has calm down to tremendously. He walks with me. He doesn’t pull me. I love it. I love it. There’s such a difference. unbelievable on my recliner with it is the best

Took my large puppy for a walk. As we were walking, he started to pull so I tugged back. Collar popped off and completely broken now.
