Q: Is this product made and based in America?

No. They are made in China. It says “Made in China” right on the box. I ordered these after reading the other answer that said they were made in Greece. CHINA!!!

Q: What would be best for roof mount on a Ford Transit?

Loving these Tie Down Anchors. I mounted a piece of Unistrut on each side of my Pickup box for a rail system and then have mounted 4 of these on each side. At 1500 lbs rating on each of these and 1200 lbs rating on the Unistrut I will probably destroy my pickup box first. I did need to get a large flat washer for each one to fill the gap in the Unistrut when I bolded these on with the unistrut slip nuts. I would think it would be pretty easy to do the same thing and basically make a custom roof rack on a Van.

Q: Screwing these into wood...anyone had a good screw lately? That came out wrong...found a good screw that's to your liking?

Typically you need to use a carriage bolt when possible but if that is not possible then a lag bolt should be sufficient. I also use a good quality of wood glue with the carriage bolt

Q: What is the best screw to attach to inside of pickup bed and tailgate?

If you can access the other side, like with a pickup bed, use a bolt with a large flat washer and bolt on the other side to sandwich as much sheet metal between the washer and the tie down as you can. If the other side is blind, I suggest either an industrial sized rivet, or an anchor-type bolt. Sheet metal screws would be my last choice as the holding power is low. If you must, then the largest, with the deepest threads, my lessen the risk a little. Certainly, only use the other options if you need the full holding power of the tie down.
