I love this wheel for my rats. My girls run marathons in this. The nail trimmer insert is good. I feel it has helped keep their nails less sharp. Id like a coarser paper if it was safe.I really wish it came in a bigger size. i will have to give it up soon when they get bigger cause its not good for their backs to be too arched when they run. 14" is idealVery easy to take apart and clean.The stand is flimsy. Plan on mounting it to the cage with zip ties.

I love this brand and design of running wheel, I have been ordering them online as needed for many years. It is fantastic for sugar gliders and rats alike! It protects their tail while they run and the insert keeps those little claws trimmed. Very quiet, can be stood up in cage or attached to a barred cage wall/ceiling. Insert can be removed for cleaning and inserting of new sandpaper.DO NOT RECOMMEND for pregnant animals. Openings are designed for quick entry and exit but a rat sticking out while a second rat runs can potentially cause harm to unborn babies if they get caught between wheel itself and the bar that suspends it. Pregnant animals are better off with an open sided plastic wheel with no suspension bars in the opening, which is usually safer for multiple young pups as well.

Our sugar glider LOVES this wheel. It's quiet and easy to clean. We were having trouble with her nails being really sharp and making us very itchy. The insert has helped tremendously after only two days of use. As the directions state, check their nails daily if using the insert, it really does work but you don't want the nails to get too short for them. It is easy to remove, clean and re-insert when needed. Would recommend this wheel from SunCoast Sugar Gliders. Also like this company because they are helpful and really care about your pet. We've had a terrible time getting any support from Pocket Pets, which is where we bought our glider from. I'm very very thankful for SunCoast and the quick responses to any questions you have regarding your sugar glider.

I should've introduced this to them when they were younger, because they seem a little confused. With some help (AKA putting one of my girls in the wheel and slightly covering the holes), they seem to get it! I did actually have to modify the entire front panel though, because one of my girls is FAT. So keep the hole size in mind!

My kids have two fancy rats and they have VERY SHARP nail, and I was given the opportunity to try out this natural style nail trimmer, which uses the fine sand to trim their nails while they run, while also protecting their feet.This wheel seems large enough for them, but doesn't take up too much room. The wheel also moves smoothly, but with slight resistance-making it more stable for them.It seems to be very safe (other wheels I've seen seem dangerous, and could cause injury with the open bars) it is light weight, and the design makes it safe both for the one using it- and a cage mate--so it doesn't get injured. So far, the girls are very cautious of it, I will post back when they have acclimated to it well, and we see how it works for their nails.Had it for a little while and LOVE it. At first, I wasn't sure-because they chewed some of the flooring, the mesh-but think they were just checking it out. They have both used it, and WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!! Their nails are so much better-and they are fun to hold now, because they aren't shredding us up. It trims their nails-but gently-so they aren't too short. I think that it is really a great investment. I recommend it for people with pet rats. Our girls love it now.

Got two cages for my Suggies - the main one and a travel one - each has one of these. Can't do without them... quiet and with the Nail-o-Matic it is indispensable!

The wheel works well but they put a paper insert into the wheel which holds urine and the odor I have 2 sugar gliders and will have to get rid of the wheel due to the smell. the gliders love the wheel but the smell from it is over powering .I would recommend the wheel without the insert but then its not unique so it will not be worth 40 dollars. Great idea but the insert is just a piece of sand paper.

We have two sugar gliders that are full of energy and can be a handle sometimes. Ever since we got this wheel I have noticed they are less antsy. They love the wheel and it only took one night for them to start using it regularly. It is silent which means we can sleep through the night while they run their hearts out. The only downside of this is that it moves when they use it/when they get in and out of it so sometimes it will get backed against the cage and will start make noises on the cage. This will happen or it will get moved to the point where the wheel will not function. Other than that I love it just as much as my sugar gliders do! The even better part is that their nails have become more maintained and less painful ever since they started using the wheel with the nail file installed. 5/5 stars! :)
