I had already updated the recessed lighting in our kitchen built in the early 2000s but had not done the single one over our sink.I recently bought a pendant fixture for our breakfast area but it was too short.I had seen conversion kits for recessed lights with pendants already attached but never found a style I liked. I came across this and thought it was a great option to salvage the light I had already bought and add a nice update inexpensively.Installation was fairly easy. I have personally changed multiple light fixtures and fans in our home and others so that was fine. The instructions are a little vague at some parts and the pictures are unclear at times. I managed to do it though in about 45 minutes. So there is a slight curve especially when installing the bracket and drilling into the can. Don’t be intimidated though. I’m a little petite woman and did it while dinner was cooking so you CAN do this too.The light works great. I prefer more ambient lighting for this particular spot. Our other overhead light is bright but I prefer this in the evening while everyone is settling in. If I needed it brighter I just have to do a higher wattage bulb. Everything fits well and it’s sturdy. You can really choose and fixture so it’s a wonderful way you can DIY and upgrade your space. Definitely recommend

Easy to install and solid enough to handle the weight of the pendant light installed over our kitchen sink. I wish it was offered in black. I spray painted it to match the new fixture so it was no big deal. Much easier than removing the can and installing a new box.

They will work. The cover ring is very cheap plastic. Luckily you cannot reach it to tell once it is mounted. Converting 2 recessed lights over the island to pendant lights. Installs easy too, about 5 mins each before wiring the new light.

Excellent product

I purchased this because an old pull string can light in a closet went out. I could not find a replacement light that fit, so I used this to provide access for a new light. Super easy to use, fit perfect with the new fixture, and looks great. Good value for the money.

First, the bad:The self tapping screws are sheetmetal screws that require you to drill a pilot hole for them to work. They are no self tapping.The trim plate does not fit flush against the ceiling. The bracket sits below the drywall and against the lighting can. The thickness of the bracket and the cover ring keep the plastic trim from fitting tight to the ceiling.The good:Once the bracket was installed by drilling pilot holes hte rest of the installation was easy. I would have liked a little more room between the bracket and the fixture stud but it didn'tp revent installation. The screw in socket with t he wire leads seemed well made.

Recessed cans vary a bit so you may have to find your own way to mount the cross bar. Not rocket science but also not plug and play if you’re not able to improvise. Then again this may fit perfectly if the stars are in alignment. All in all a good product and enabled us to replace recessed ceding light with more attractive fixture. And as far as I can tell there are no other options on the market so there’s that…
