Excellent heavy duty work glove, but a few flaws.
I purchased these gloves for use in 5 week archaeological field excavation; while carpenters may be harder on their gloves in the long run, archaeology gives any equipment a run for its money in the short-term.I used these gloves primarily for shovel work as well as high-abrasion screening (which really puts the palm material to the test), here's what I've found. The Good:They really do breathe, my hands rarely got sweaty even working in 90F+ temperatures with moderate humidity, if you don't need tough material on the top of your hands, these are bar-none the gloves to use. They are very form-fitting on the hand and I received zero blisters the entire 5 weeks when using them, the Velcro wrist strap and elastic wristband along with the extremely tough synthetic grip surface prevents the gloves from rubbing or slipping while on your hands without sacrificing feel and dexterity too much. They are extremely comfortable, most comfortable work gloves I've ever worn, no places where they scratch/rub etc. that I noticed. The not so good:They don't seem like they'd be particularly durable for periods of use greater than a year, I had them rip and tear in 3 places on the palm where the synthetic material was sewn into the glove, and the mesh I would imagine is not particularly tear or cut resistant. The Velcro strap functions perfectly, but again, in the long term, Velcro is going to be prone to failure, and the elastic wrist strap, while well wrapped it seems, is another potential liability. While these two features give more comfort than alternative options, and keep the glove better fit to your hand, they reduce the gloves' lifespan.Overall:Despite their few shortcomings, I will probably never switch to another type of glove again, my pair probably have one more excavation's worth of use in them, and after that I'll probably just buy another pair. Many of my colleagues wore gardening gloves or cheap work gloves and either got many blisters or couldn't keep them on all day for the sweating they caused, I could practically eat with mine on, and wore them whenever I was working.Youngstown has manufactured a near-perfect work glove, and made a lifetime customer out of me.

... these gloves again and again because they are so great. I am rather hard on my gloves
I have ordered these gloves again and again because they are so great. I am rather hard on my gloves, and other pairs I have owned have only lasted 2 months, but under the same conditions, these gloves last me 6-8 months, usually needing to be replaced due to one of the fingers getting torn by a stray nail or hook. I do wish they were a little more resilient on the sides of the fingers, but for the price and comfort of the mesh back these can't be beaten. The mesh allows your hands to breathe while working. This might not be beneficial if you are working in the winter months, but the do make winter gloves as well, which I also own for those few cold days we get here in Texas.

These gloves lasted about 2 months moving boxes in a warehouse. The cloth back was nice to wipe my nose with if I got an itch. The quality was not as great as other gloves I have bought. They made a nice lightweight summer glove though.

Last well, wash well
My 18 yr old is spending the summer landscaping, and these gloves are really good. And they wash up nicely. We had some other gloves that were leather for only slightly less expensive, and they wore out in the first week. He liked these so much I bought him a second pair. I expect they will last at least the whole summer of 60 hour weeks...

Great "Work around the house" Glove!
Have had these now for a year and a half and still my go to pair of gloves for doing chores around the house ... yardwork (chainsaw, weed whacker, etc), basement/garage cleaning, etc. When they get dirty, I just wash my hands with the gloves on and they keep on going strong. Great for summer chores, hands don't et hot at all. Other than expected wear and tear, these are in great shape yet and my hands took a whole lot of a less beating since getting these gloves! Definitely a great purchase!

The glove every Archaeologist should use
I love these gloves. I am a professional Archaeologist and this is my glove of choice. I had a pair for years and finally needed to get another pair. The top allows your hands to breath and the sweat to evaporate easily and the bottom has good protection with excellent dexterity. Really great gloves when you work in the dirt for a living!
