I am a professional counselor, and my personal goal is to put into my client's hands the most helpful literature I can; this book is my choice for parents who are serious about finding an effective way to connect with their child, and make a change in their lives. The authors have gleaned from the current rich vein of research on the brain to bring practical, understandable, methods to help a child live a full life as a child, an adolescent, and become an effective parent. This book helps the parent make sense out of their own life, which aids them to be fully present to assist their child to make sense out of their life. Five stars are not adequate to express my appreciation for this ground-breaking book which is destined to become a classic.

One of the best parenting books I've read.
I'm a family counselor and I have to say this book is a must have for parents that want to build a strong, healthy relationship that helps their children thrive and be happy. It will help you connect on a deeper level with your child so you can be a better parent. This book clearly explains how to educate with Love and PACE, and how this develops the child's brain in an optimal way so he can build healthy relationships and be the greatest person he can be later in life.Easy to read, deep, practical, complete, based on scientific studies, especially helpful for adopting and foster parents. This book blew my mind! And it has changed and improved my parenting.

must-have book on attachment issues
This is a great book for both professionals and parents involved in helping children with attachment disorders. It is written in a manner that is very accessible for the lay person, yet the knowledge shared is very profound and can truly make a difference. There is a wonderful understanding for the struggles of parents in feeling up to the task of helping their children. For the professional there are plenty of sources to refer to for additional information/background. This should be a must-have for any parent of a child with attachment issues.

Brought my kid back
I ve read 3 more books written by so called experts, aiming at addressing challenging behaviours ; they didn’t workThis is different, this doesn’t tell you what to do exactly, this focuses on the child as a growing human being and what’s the impact on him following certain behaviours or words from his own parents ! It really makes you think what’s happening to that little child’s heart and brain based on what you say and do as a parent. It then highlights key 4 areas you need to focus on in your daily relationships with your kidIt totally changed the way I parented my kids especially my oldest following a tough year . Within a week my kid relaxed, started playing more, being happy again, and by himself came to say how much he loves me.It needs persistence, it won’t work straight away; you ll be tested, but perseverance and calm thinking as well as remembering the 4 areas and finding continuous ways of applying them, will make this workOn a final note this book was recommended by my kids psychiatrist ; yes his behaviour was so challenging we resulted to this . Little did I know it was all down to parenting. The author just changed our livesGood luck to all x

Vital reading for all adopters and adoption social workers!
I’m just a quarter through this book -it’s excellent in describing just how to build loving attachments and why they are essential. Very complex theory in deceptively easily read style. Kim Golding is a very knowledgeable and personable psychologist.

Helpful approach for child with special needs
This book has made a positive difference to us. Mr son has a learning disability and communication can be hard. The techniques in this book make so much sense and intuitively feel right. My son has been very responsive to the PACE approach.
