Spigen Rugged Armor Designed for Apple iPhone 8 Case (2017) / Designed for iPhone 7 Case (2016) - Black

I have bought previous Spigen cases in the past, and I was severely disappointed. But I gave the brand another shot after reading the reviews. I am glad I did.I like cases that add a little grip (but not too much). Add only a little size, but a lot of protection. And of course look nice.This does add some rubbery grip. Great for when I have to chase my kids with phone in hand. Feels like it will not be able to slip out as easily as previous hard plastic cases.This thing is thin, which is perfect for fitting in my jeans pocket. I cannot stand bulky cases, and this is as far from bulky as you can get without just being a bumper. But at the same time, you can feel the strength in the material. I have not tried dropping it on a corner, but it seems like this case will help with protection.And it looks unobtrusive. I don't want people staring at my phone, and I don't think they will with this style of caseNote that I did make a modification to the case. I have little metal plates that connect to my magnetic dash mount. so I used a sanding cylinder on my Dremel to sand a little indent, and then siliconed the metal plate in. This make sure that the plate doesn't cause extra bulkiness or move around like previous cases. There is plenty of case material to do this with. I didn't even come close to punching through (my one worry with this technique).

Good quality, looked nice, sleek; dropped several times and phone has not damaged. Holding up very well. Doesn't scratch, scuff or get marked up.UPDATE 15-June-2018: Well today proved to be the best test of all for this case and I must say I am incredibly impressed. The morning started off as any other, but I was in a rush and was downloading some shows on Netflix on my phone. I took my dog outside and placed my cell phone on my husband's truck hood so it would stay within range of the wifi. I proceeded with my daily routine - headed to the coffee shop. While waiting for my order, I felt around in my pocket, frantically realizing I left my phone on the truck hood. Crap, I'd have to go back and get it. Then the panic really set in. I drove the truck to the coffee shop! An immediate slur of profanity flies from my mouth. I hop in the truck and backtrack to my house. The phone is lying in the middle of the road near my driveway. I jump of out of truck, run into the street and pick it up. To my shock and amazement, it doesn't have a scratch on it. It does have tire tracks across the back of the case and the screen protector is a bit messed up from the road gravel, but the phone screen is perfect. I've had iPhone's crack dropping them on a carpet from 2 feet. This thing flung off the hood of a moving vehicle onto a paved road and was run over by who knows how many vehicles. Did I mention it was also raining? It was sitting there for probably at least 20 minutes before I was able to get it. Thank you Spigen for making a truly rugged case!

I'm pretty sure everyone has a friend who has shattered their screen or damaged the appearance of their expensive smartphone. An obvious solution is to get a protective case. But, I'm one of those people that hate a bulky "Otterbox" or "Lifeproof" case that is difficult to fit inside my front pocket (men's pants).This case is a perfect blend of protective barrier with slim profile. It easily fits in my pocket and barely increases the overall size of my iPhone 7, but I've already dropped my phone a few times from about 4 feet off the ground onto hard surfaces and there has been zero repercussions from these events. I especially like the small lip around the screen which allows enough material above the plane of the glass to protect the glass from a face-down plummet to the floor. I previously had a slim case for my iPhone 6 that didn't have much of a lip and I ended up breaking the screen twice.Overall this is an excellent slim profile case. I'm not a huge fan of the carbon fiber inserts on the back, as I think it looks too "techy" but at least they are pretty dark, so they're not that noticeable.

Disclaimer: I bought this case at full price of my own $$.I've got another Spigen case for my work phone, an S6 Edge. I thought it performed well, so I didn't hesitate to buy another Spigen product. This Rugged Armor for my iPhone 7 is well priced and looks good. The fit is excellent and it was easy to slip it on my 7. It's not bulky so I can still shove the phone in my jean pocket. The matte-finish on the back gives a nice non-slippery feel against my hands. The faux carbon fiber look gives the case a bit of a high tech look. All the cut-outs lined up perfectly.I haven't drop my phone... yet. so i can't comment on the case' drop protection. I hope I have never to find out if it works or not... All in all, a great looking case for my phone. I'd like to try out some of their other case offerings. The price on Amazon seems pretty decent!

Initial thoughts: very well fitted, clean design, not obtrusive at all, very well made. Fully protective in terms of fwd glass and rear camera lens obtrusion. Both surfaces are protected when laid flat on a surface. Adds barely any thickness to the phone, so it may not be the best choice for the relatively clumsy, although I'm sure it can handle a drop or two. In terms of aesthetics, the carbon fibre-like accents on the back look slick but not flashy/gaudy, which I prefer. The feel of the case is also high quality and even adds a sense of anti-slip. Excellent case for the money, highly recommended. Will update this review in 6 months to provide further, more in-depth feedback.
