Overall, it's very pretty but the reason I picked it was because the description inferred that it had a weighted base. The base is not that heavy. In fact, it weighs about the same as the one I just got rid of but the one I had wasn't as nice lookingI wanted something that didn't move when you were pulling paper towels off the roll.Also, as the roll gets smaller water accumulates in the bottom of the base. I'm going to have my husband put something heavy in the base. Maybe that way it won't move around. As for the water, I just make sure I clean up after everyone that uses it.

I appreciated the simple but secure packaging (no hard plastics) and the easy assembly. The paper towel sheets tear off cleanly w/out an external guide or spring tension on the pole. The base is slightly concave which may be why the roll remains securely seated. That said, the base could be more weighted for added stability as the roll is reduced in size and becomes lighter.

I'm a fan of stuff that's of good quality, designed well for it's intended purpose, and isn't styled in a way that reflects a current décor fad that will be out of style within a year. This paper towel holder meets my criteria.It took 30 seconds or so to assemble the 3 pieces; base, rod, and filial like top. (In fact, it looks like a standard threaded top - I think if you wanted to change to a fancier top piece many lamp finials would fit.) The weighted base prevents the holder from moving even when you're tearing off a piece of towel with a single hand. All pieces of the holder are of very sturdy metal construction and fit together snugly.Some may feel the lack of a side support to prevent paper towel rolls from "unreeling" is a drawback, but I don't as we buy good quality, heavy duty, paper towels that don't droop from the roll.I'll be buying more of these to replace other paper towel holders strewn about our house. The overall quality of this holder easily exceeds that of our existing ones, including some that cost substantially more.

Great! Love the design on top just to make it look a tad but more stylish.
