New from Raspberry Pi
Bridges to the Arduino world. Good for when a Pi would be overkill - this is a basic microcontroller good for dedicated tasks. Looking forward to a good application for this.

I was able to program with little trouble
I was able to program this using a windows Python IDE which was able to set up the pico using the shell and enter and write programs to the pico. This will be a useful microcontroller as I learn more of its capabilities.

Awesome board, but poor value in this kit (see details)
I'll be honest, when the Raspberry Pi stack of products was expanded from full-features SoCs to also include microcontrollers, I wasn't really all that interested. I mean, for low-end projects, I was already using Arduinos, Beagle Bones, and ESP32s. Why use a Pico?Well, Picos are FAST (compared to an Arduino). The Python implementation is pretty slick, too. PIO pins are really powerful. Finally, as long as you're sourcing your Picos elsewhere, you can get them for $4!!!! Wow. I'll probably keep using ESP32s, too, but my experience with the Pico was enough to turn me off of future Arduinos. So, since I mentioned what the Pico SHOULD cost, how does that speak to the value proposition of this kit costing over 3 times as much as what should be the most expensive component? Well, it's not great... sure, shipping is built into the price (there is no such thing as "free" shipping), and you do get pin headers and a cable. That's nice from a convenience standpoint, but you have to decide if that's worth the extra expense.
