Avoid and go to Raspberry Pi HQ camera
Broken junk that doesn’t work. I should have spent my money on a Raspberry Pi HQ camera. Whatever additional awesomeness that Arducam might seem to provide is not worth the hassle. So I hooked it up to my Raspberry Pi, followed allegheny the instructions to the lettwr, and the few times the camera displayed anything at all in the preview software, the image was horribly underexposed. And if I stopped the preview command line app and tried to start it again, I’d get a “4100” error where the Pi wouldn’t connect to the camera. I they had to reboot the even get the camera to connect to the preview utility a second time. And now the camera doesn’t connect at all, even after I followed all the troubleshooting guides. As a software developer, I noticed that arducam’s code is also poorly maintained, which doesn’t inspire my confidence in their product.

The 16MP Camera does NOT support Raspistill or Raspivid
This Camera does not support Raspivid or Raspistill, which are used by 99.99% of all Raspiberry Pi Video Programs in existence today. It is USELESS on a Raspiberry Pi unless you are willing to write you own new code!
