Albert'sFruit Chews - Grape Flavor (240 Candies)

These sweets are really good. They do not look as good because they are plain white, but once you put it in your mouth, you can taste how good it actually is.

During a Halloween party last month, a man was standing against a wall with a bag of these in his hands. I did a double-take. I straightened. Then I approached him slowly, my eyes wide, my steps cautious. Could it really be? Are these the same candies I have literally been searching for in vain for the last fifteen years?Poor guy. He must have been pretty shocked when I took the bag right out of his hand, opened it wide at the top, and gazed down at its contents. Precious, precious contents. Like little barely-wrapped pieces of gold, they appeared to me. This was indeed them.The next thing I did was look at the damn brand name on the bag. I've been looking for these candies for so long and failing, and all I really needed to know all that time was what the heck the brand name was: Albert's. I memorized it instantly.And then I gushed, handing back the bag. "I'm sorry! I've just been looking for these candies that I used to eat all the time when I was a kid. I loved them so much! The way they were nice and hard, like tangy taffies but without the tang, the way they could be smoothed into a kind of delicious wafer that would slowly melt in the mouth, the TASTE!" The very gracious man smiled, took my hands, and dumped half the bag into them. I thanked him profusely, ate every single one of them, and then went home and ordered four bags of this stuff from Amazon.In case you haven't gathered thus far - I love these candies. Thank goodness they haven't changed one iota over the last thirty years. The grape is my favorite, followed by the strawberry. Nothing else in the world is quite like them. Their consistency, their flavor, their size - they are all perfect.Luck was with me that Halloween. :)

Let's get something straight if you have seen pictures or are reading reviews that these are rockhard and stale that is 100% accurate.They are borderline inedible. So what I have done is I unwrap 7 exactly 7 at a time that's enough to fit in my mouth without choking and I let it sit for a little bit and soften.At which point it is soft enough to begin slowly chewing be careful if you have a lot of dental work think now and later consistency. The last three seconds are great because the taste finally pops and then it's gone and then you unwrap the next seven.I strongly advise against unless you have some crazy nostalgic memory for these. Now if someone would please bring back bonkers candy maybe one day high two would relive fruit chew candy glory.

I was excited to find that Amazon sold individual flavors when it came to this candy. I see it sold in stores and they have, strawberry, watermelon, blue berry and assorted flavors but never grape. Thank you for finding a provider that does so. Outside of Halloween I can now order here.

Unfortunately I can’t return this item but I would like to let it be known that this item wasn’t fresh at all. It’s called Chews for a reason and unfortunately this bag and the other bag I purchased was not what I’m used to.

They didn’t last long.

They were fresh, still soft and delicious as always. Good sized bag for the price.
