Learn French with Fairy Tales: Interlinear French to English (Learn French with Interlinear Stories for Beginners and Advanced Readers)

Great way to learn French. Simple classical stories that we all know and love. It is a fairly thick book which means you get your bang for your buck. It's a great way to start your language learning journey.

I thoroughly enjoy learning French and reading, so I have a rather large collection of French language books. I have a variety of formats, including classic French literature, French children's books, French cookbooks, French books with audio, parallel texts, and bilingual versions. Without question, the interlinear books offered by HypLern are a welcome addition to my collection of language learning materials. I have found that extensive reading, reading in context, spaced repetition, and comprehensible input has greatly improved my French language skills. The HypLern interlinear language books seamlessly cover all of these bases. I have purchased the paperback versions of the following HypLern books: Learn French with Beginner Stories, Learn French with Romantic Stories, Learn French with Masked Love by Balzac, Learn French with Fairytales, and Learn French with Short Stories. My preference is for the paperback/hard cover version of books. I usually read the books along with listening to the audio portion, since reading and listening at the same time is quite helpful when it comes to learning a language. Other times, I read the books without the audio portion, or simply listen to the audio only. I appreciate having various options. I wish more French language interlinear books were available. I will certainly purchase any others that become available through HypLern. I give HypLern interlinear French products my highest recommendation. Merci beaucoup !!!

I am studying French with Duolingo and the level of this book is perfect for expanding vocabulary and getting exposure to new grammar.

I just ordered three of the Learn French with Short Stories, Fairy Tales and Romance Stories. I'm just getting started but since I'm learning French on my own, this is alot of fun and there is audio to download not only off of the website, but the seller/owner sent me a personal link as well with a bonus download. I read one fairy tale, both reading it and listening and it was about a couple who couldn't have kids and made a pretty little girl from snow, who of course, comes alive. The goal of the material is to repeat the words over and over, so you do learn from reading as the words are right under the French words. Then you can listen to the audio, before and after...and even though it's fast, (that's how French is...so it's important to not slow it down)...but since you can follow along, and with other material one is using, it works very well. I'm thrilled to have this and I'm 62 years old and I'm determined to teach myself French!

the kids love learning with this book. stories are easy and repetitive. great addition to class learning. will soon be looking for more books like this

Finally I have an effective way to study French without a computer or a dictionary. This can stand alone as a learning tool.

This is an interesting new way to learn French! Anyone can do it! The English is right beneath the French, so you don't even have to look words up. I'm starting a French notebook with all the new words I'm learning in it. Once I know the words, I'm rereading the stories and am putting a piece of paper over the French to try reading it by myself. I'm glad I got this book. I think I prefer some of the other beginner French books offered by Amazon, but this is a nice way for total beginners to start to learn and to feel that they are accomplishing something!

This book and others produced by this publisher allow rapid comprehension of foreign languages as you can readily understand how the other language ‘works’ (eg different word orders) and you easily pick up the vocabulary in the context of the stories, without having to look everything up. Most ‘translations’ into English mask how the foreign words and sentences are put together. For example, this book will show you that the French, when they have not eaten, will say that they ‘have hunger’, not that they ‘are’ hungry. An ordinary English translation would make you think that the French word for ‘have’ is the English word for ‘am’, which is confusing. Also, for example, the French word order for the English question ‘Where do you come from?’ is ‘you come from where?’ But for this book you might think the English word for ‘where’ is the French word for ‘you’. These are just some basic examples. Also you can purchase the audio as well, so you not only pick up the new language visually but know how it sounds. It’s a brilliant resource for language learning. You can understand written and spoken French just by reading with the audio. Makes it so much easier when it comes to speaking the language. Highly recommended
