Wireless Adapter for XBox 360

Terrible Product
Bought this item thinking it would be a cheaper alternative to the Microsoft brand products. The adapter would not connect to the computer, or my 360. Not only that, but it messed up the wireless on my laptop which took forever to fix. Terrible.

im dissappointed
I dont know what I'm doing wrong... But umm almost every week I have to redo the set up on this stupid thing. I am really disappointed in my purchase. I paid around 72 dollars for this piece of junk. I dont recommend this item. But I just might not being having luck on with it.

Buggy but working
The manufacturer settings and the software itself are lame. I couldn't get a connection to the device, and running software just got the "error: call customer support" line. Tried resetting the device, tried a few different computers; FAQs and support at the site are lacking. After a long time spent searching i found some useful info on setting it up manually. Search for "How can i configure my pelican wireless gaming adapter?" in google, and choose the first result from the yahoo domain. Here's the text, just in case:Using Windows XP or Vista:Turn off the wireless feature of the PC you will be using to setup the adapter.· Plug the adapter into your PC's Ethernet port and wait at least 3 minutes for the adapter to boot up before continuing to the next step.· Select the "Start Menu" icon and click on Control Panel.· Select "Network and Sharing Center".· From the left sidebar, select the "Manage Network Connections" option.· Right click the "Local Network" icon and select the properties option.· Highlight the IPv4 option and click the properties tab.· Select the "Use the following IP address" option and enter this IP address: 192.168.1.222· Enter the following address for Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0· Enter the following address for Default gateway: 192.168.1.1· Press the OK tab and close the "Local Area Connection" window.· Open the internet browser of your choice and enter 192.168.1.99 in the address or location field.· If a "Windows Dialogue box" appears, enter Username: "Admin" and leave password blank. If no windows box appeared, continue to next step.· Make sure the login name is "admin" and enter the word "password" for password.· Select the WIRELESS SETTINGS tab.· Go to "Basic Settings" and enter the name of your router or wireless network in the SSID field. (You can press the "Site Survey" button if you are unsure of the name of your network or router)· Click on APPLY to save the settings.· Select the SECURITY tab and click on "Encryption Method."· Enter your network password or security key in the Password field.· Click APPLY to save the settings.· Disconnect the adapter from your PC and its power supply.· Connect the adapter to the power supply and the Xbox 360.· Once the adapter is connected to the Xbox 360, allow it to "self-setup" for at least 2 minutes.· You can now go to the system tab of the Xbox 360 dashboard and select NETWORK SETTINGS to test the network connection and make sure you are connected to the Internet.· Go back to your PC and re-enter the network settings property page.· Select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and press the OK button. So if you have trouble with the software, follow the steps to set it up manually. Now it's up and running; all the other devices on the network are connected ok; speed seems fine (now many months in, speed has been perfect, and never had a dropped connection), and now I don't have to pay $$ to let Microsoft rip me off. I'm satisfied. Some people have complained about the fact that it needs an external power source, but I rather prefer not having devices drawing power from the 360. Less chance of RRoD that way.

Good for the price
well we bought it at gamestop for like 70 dollars and we didnt pay for it because i i traded in all or my old games and got it free. when we opened it i was unaware it came with a cd and it took me a while to figure it out so please check the box and read the directions carefully! i put the cd in to my computer that uses vista it obviously works on vista so dont listen to the other reviewer that says it doesnt. after setting it up, whitch was easy after reading the instructions i hooked it into my xbox 360 and it took a couple of tries to connect but when it did it was all good also dont listen to the other reviewers that say that they called microsoft and they said its not compatible, because it is obviously compatible because it is MADE FOR XBOX 360 its just microsofts way of wanting you to buy THEIR product. the connection speed is good and i love that uses ethernet because i can plug my xbox 360 controller charger while using this. i have had it for a month and for some reason it wouldnt connect(today a month later...) so i hit the reset button on the back, connected it to the computer again and redid the setup which is only pushing the next button four times and it works well again. and we are as far away from the modem/router as you can get in our house and it still works reasonably well.pros:cheaperUses ethernetworks on vistagood connectionCons:Disconnects every once in a while (usually never durring a game though)Only a "good" connectionand kind of bulky and it has two wires one for power outlet and ethernet so its not a clean hook up its a quick and dirty but that doesnt bother me.NOTE: i have not tried the microsoft version wireless adapter so i am only basing this on my expeiriece with wireless computer connection speeds i dont know if it is better or worse but i would have to think the microsoft version is better it is 30 dollars more so please read the reviews of both products before making the purchase. AND READ THE DIRCTION DONT THROW THE DISK AWAY :)
