IOGEAR 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub GUH285

My new work laptop has a single USB port. I use it for a arch mouse (I hate the track pads on laptops), but with only one port, I can't charge my phone, etc. This little gadget does the trick. I like how the cord stows in the body of the device. I also love the lights that come on and show you that the port is connected. I'm not sure if there is any lag, but for business/personal use in a laptop, it's fantastic. The cost is great, too. I leave it in my laptop bag and know it's there when I need it.

Adding extra drive to computer.

There are a lot of "portable" USB hubs out there, but this one is the only one I've found that really makes sense for a traveler.The hub provides four USB 2.0 connections, and it attaches to a USB port using a standard USB adapter; that's pretty standard. What makes this hub so great is that the connector cord that links the hub to another device folds into the hub: when it's packed for travel, it's a harmonica-sized rectangle that won't catch on anything and has none of the delicate parts that can break in transit.As someone who regularly logs more than 100,000 miles of flight time a year and spends more nights than I'd care to reflect upon in arbitrary places, having a USB hub that can come with me in a zipper pocket on my laptop case and that "just works" is a real value. I love this hub and recommend it to anyone looking for a USB travel companion.

I purchased this item a few months ago (end of May), and didn't need to use it until today. And go figure, the thing just doesn't work. I've tried it on every computer in my house...And of course, I am outside of the refund window so I am out of luck.I suppose I'll open up the enclosure and see if there are any obvious things I could fix in this defective hub.***Update***I fixed a loose connection using a little solder and a steady hand. The hub is working well now, I'm still giving it 4 stars for arriving dead. I was happy that I was able to get the item working, as it was easy to disassemble.

I've been using this model for quite some time and find it very reliable and long lasting. The only thing is that over time the outside gets sticky.

nice and portable, short cord, which can be kind of handy. This is the 2nd one I've purchased so I obviously like them. Used this one on my kids older laptop that only had 2 USB ports, which they use a separate keyboard and mouse on. This gives them a few more ports to use.

For the first 30 days this product worked great! Then not so great. I think the problem is with design not material quality. As you notice in the picture the USB plug is attached to a small cable which makes it flexible when attaching devices. The problem is that there is a cable that is flexible. After just a few uses I noticed that it looked like the cable was pulling away from the hub (exposed wires that are embedded in the cable)-but it still worked fine; so I taped down the cable to the hub with duct tape. Continued to work great until just this last week (about 30 days in). Now it only works intermittently and is dependent upon finigaling the cable AND the USB plug. It will work at times and then not work at all.I realized this was a gamble when I purchased it; but for the price thought I thought it was worth a shot at meeting a need for very little cash. I would not recommend it

Worked fine for quite a while, it's a great car accessory if you have a cigarette lighter to USB converter; this allows you to charge phones, cameras and FM transmitters (I have an old car lol) all at the same time. It stopped working in the middle of my last road trip though. I think the cable USB plug was poorly designed and came loose. It tucks neatly into the device for storage, which is great, but it can be difficult to get the USB plug out again and sometimes gets tugged on the wire when you finally do. It was great while it lasted, anyway.

used for a couple months... still not convinced.Works well with an optical mouse, but every time I connect my iPhone 5, it keeps disconnecting spontaneously.No reason since all the ports are securely connected and repeating it so very annoying.... even heard the disconnecting and re-connecting sound while writing this now. Urgh.Although, when it works, it works.It does not work on plugin on power extensions (surge protect), and not on my laptop fan extension either.

This is a very low quality USB hub that can't decide if it should work or not. It depends on the day really. Some days, my keyboard works well through it, other days, I need to break out the bluetooth keyboard.These days, it sits on my desk as a reminder of how I sometimes waste money buying the inexpensive version of something I need. :(

Does exactly what was advertised. Good value for the money. I use the same device at work and decided to get one for home. Greatly expands functionality if your computer does not have enough USB ports.

Lo adquirí por una emergencia, realmente creo que el cable podría ser más resistente y largo, pero el diseño es cómodo, cumple y por el precio, creo que es buena compra. Sólo lo utilicé un par de semanas, pero nunca me dio problema alguno.
