The Self and Society
This book focuses on the building of the self through an understanding of institutions, institutions can be academia, church, or in a far contrast criminal organizations. Basically, anything where a mentality is created to define a collective. How does one identify themselves in reference to; there is the sense of importance, comradery, home (in a sense), but also how does our need to feel that, how does access to power, how does the perceived influence of power sway one to one group or another. It is a great read, I am huge fan of Mills, so in that regard, I feel this is a continuation of his catalog.
