Good fit
Easy to change fit well. I parked my 8n nose first into a ditch so the hydraulic fluid wouldn’t leak out. 4 bolts. Comparing the shafts were very similar until you get to the conversion part as expected. Installed easy. Little bit of rotating and a smidge of clutch pedal. I tried to buy the kit that came with cap and gasket, but that fell through on the vendor side. The old cap doesn’t fit the new shaft. Also, the nice looking overrunning clutch I bought didn’t fit by about 1/8”. I had to buy a different style for my brush hog. Mowed the field all summer without any PTO issues. This new shaft takes out all the slop from the original 1-1/8” which was pretty beat up.

Unit will not work with an overrun clutch as supplied.
I gave this product a very low rating because it will not accept an overrun clutch as supplied. To be able to use a brush hog mower on the N series tractors it is necessary to use an overrun clutch or the mower will drive the tractor even with the clutch pushed in. A typical PTO shaft will accept an overrun clutch as supplied. This one will not. The bearing retainer (part with mounting bolt holes in flange) has too small an interior diameter for the clutch to fit in far enough to insert the pin. To use an overrun clutch with this product, the inside of the bearing retainer has to be ground about 0.050" larger or the clutch has to be machined about 0.050" smaller. I ground the inside of the retainer - basically removing the threads. Also, it has a very tight fit into the differential, had to be pulled in with the mounting bolts, and will be very difficult to remove. The supplier provided prompt delivery. After a two days of calling and asking for advice I was offered a refund if I returned the unit. Each time I called, I was put on hold and gave up after about a half hour. I did send an email and eventually received a return call. Very polite. I needed to use the tractor an so modified the part to be usable. It did work okay in about four hours of use. Durability to be determined.

2 months in and No Issues, even with overrun clutch installed
Installed on a 1952 Ferguson TO30 without any issues. No leaks after two months of weekly, 12 acre, 4hr mowing with a 72 inch finish mower. My field grows thick and high so it is getting a workout! I also have the same one on a 1941 9N that also gets a good amount of use with no issues, and it has been installed for almost 2 years.

Round inserted edge too large, housing does not accommodate standard swinging draw bar.
The diameter of the edge that actually goes into the round opening for the pto was a bit too large, requiring me to file it down by hand with a small, flat file. Also, the housing around the pto shaft is too large and the bolt-holes for the swinging drawbar (I have two and tried both) do not align as there is no clearance for this as the housing is larger than the housing of the original pto housing. Do not get this item if you have a swinging draw bar that mounts around it.

Part fit perfectly! It’s a little more difficult removing the old one (not Amazon’s fault), but once I got it out, it went smooth!
