Like many things in life, whether you are going to like this toothbrush or not is a matter of perspective. I purchased an expensive Oral-B electric toothbrush about 15 years ago. It was a higher price point than this one and I loved it. It lasted for about 10 years. When it died, I didn't want to spend so much money and decided to get one of the disposable battery operated toothbrushes to replace it. During the past five years, I have purchased a total of 3 battery operated toothbrushes (plus some replacement heads). My third one started dying last month. I actually tried replacing the batteries, but that only helped for a week or so. It was time to buy ANOTHER toothbrush. Something I really didn't want to do again. So, I started shopping around for a new electric toothbrush that wasn't disposable.This is the toothbrush I found. There was a coupon on Amazon for it, so my final price ended up being $21.99 - just about the exact combined price of the 3 disposables that I purchased during the last 5 years. I'm tired of buying toothbrushes and I'm not interested in doing it again in another year, so I decided to give this a try. I even opted to purchase a second one for my husband (at full price - $26.99) because I know that he is as annoyed by the situation as I am.I had forgotten how wonderful a REAL electric toothbrush feels. In fact, I was so unaccustomed to how powerful it is that it was a little bit uncomfortable the first time I used it. But I adjusted very quickly and loved it the next time I used it. I am so glad I opted for this Oral-B toothbrush.I had read some of the complaints about this toothbrush when I was checking out reviews before purchasing. One was the head getting gunked up and needing to be removed in order to rinse it out thoroughly. Frankly, I don't see this as a downside. It's my toothbrush. It's going into my mouth. If anything, I am sort of glad for a feature that encourages me to clean it more thoroughly - even if it was an accidental feature. Another complaint was that the charger was shaped where it naturally held water. I was expecting something like a dish. It's really very shallow and not a big thing. While I wipe down the bathroom each day, I just lift up the toothbrush and wipe the charger quickly. I've never noticed enough water there to matter. The third issue that I took note of was the head. This is going to be a matter of personal preference for everyone. But the selling point on this product that made me ignore that complaint was that it can be used with any of the Oral-B heads. That's awesome! Totally my choice. I can purchase whichever one I prefer. And, so far, I like the head that came with it. What will I do when it's time to buy a replacement head? I don't know. I figure I'll cross that road when I come to it.So, in conclusion, if you have a top of the line electric toothbrush and are considering this for your next purchase, I can see why you might be dissatisfied. But if you, like me, are making the change from a disposable... look out! Your mouth won't know what hit it. This thing is awesome.

I was looking into several electric toothbrushes because my dentist suggested. I was shocked when I started to see the prices of them. After reading reviews I decided to go with this one because of the price. I was worried it wouldn't be as good as the others because it was dramatically cheaper. I have been using this for a month now and will never go without it. The quality is amazing and the timer is perfect. I don't like how when you have to empty your mouth and take it out it sprays everywhere. I was afraid to turn it off for a moment because I didn't want the timer to start over. To my delight you CAN turn it off, spit and turn it right back on with NO interruption to the timer. I also love how it doesn't turn off when the timers lets you know the 2 minutes are up. Sometimes I like to keep brushing and I can. I still haven't needed to change the head, which is great. I saw other reviews suggesting you use other brush heads but the one that came with it works great!!!! This toothbrush is very comparable to the other high dollar electric toothbrushes. Don't waste your money on something that does the exact same thing as this one! Go for it, make the purchase. Your teeth and dentist will be happy you took the plunge.

My dental assistant recommended this toothbrush to me when I told her I couldn't afford the $100 one they were selling at the office. It has worked well, cleaning my teeth better than my old SpinBrush and SpinBrush Ultrasonic. So why "only" four stars? The replacement brush heads are expensive! And, when water runs down the handle toward the base, sometimes the brush will stop then start up again, like it is 'shorting' out. Since it is an 'inductive' charging toothbrush, it doesn't seem to like it when water gets to the base area. Not a show stopper or anything. Just something to be aware of. For the money, I'd probably just go with the SpinBrush Ultrasonic (works really well, too!) But since I now have this, I will keep using it until it craps out and dies. It's a good brush and my teeth feel really clean. And the dental assistant is "happy" when I tell her I'm using the Oral B Vitality brush.

I had an old Oral-B electric toothbrush and after about 16 years it bit the dust. I looked at a bunch of different electric toothbrushes and decided to give this one a try. I was not really wanting to spend $40 or more on one knowing that my last inexpensive one lasted for 16 years! Well, I have only had it a short amount of time so I obviously can't comment on longevity but as far as cleaning teeth....this toothbrush ROCKS! Obviously the technology has gotten a lot better in 16 years because although my last one worked well it was nothing compared to this one. After brushing, my teeth feel like they do after a professional cleaning. I went to a movie yesterday (popcorn and all) and when I got back I brushed my teeth and it even managed to get some popcorn hulls out that I didn't even know were stuck! On the downside, it is kind of loud but for the 4-6 minutes a day that I use it I can handle a little noise to end up with super clean teeth!
