The HyperDoc Handbook: Digital Lesson Design Using Google Apps

Finally some new ideas for teachers using Google Apps!
I don't often write reviews on Amazon, however, this book is a GREAT resource. As a teacher in a district that uses Google Apps, this was one of the first books I read that gave me new ideas, instead of more of the same basic tips. It may only be 122 pages, but don't let that turn you away from purchasing this book. Many pages have valuable resources on it that require time to try them out and find what is best for you. Although I finished reading the text, I have a long way to go as far as exploring all the tools mentioned. I labeled a few things I thought would have a significant improvement on my instruction, and will start creating those HyperDocs for the next school year. I showed a few colleagues who also value google apps as a means to enhance instruction and they all asked if they could borrow the book. Immediately they commented on how much they loved the layout/format of the writing and tools. I had to say no because it is not a book that goes on a shelf when you finish reading it. Between the resources in this book, and Alice Keeler's book, I think the way myself and co-teacher implement google apps into our instruction will be more engaging for the students, and lead to higher student success in our class. Myself and Co-Teacher thank the authors for a well put together book. (One personal note: I generally purchase my books in the Kindle format, however, for this one I would recommend buying the physical copy)

This is THE book for any level teacher looking to learn how to easily weave all the pieces together in a well-packaged, strong, transformative 21st Century lesson design. Hyperdocs will engage learners with multi-layered, robust content. The Hyperdoc Handbook shows all teachers, coaches or administrators how to walk through the creation process with extensive reasoning, encouragement, step-by-step directions to build their own hyperdoc, numerous downloadable examples, tons of possible tech tools, extra tips & tricks, an most importantly - an open invitation to join the Teachers Give Teachers community. The Handbook will level up hyperdocs; the authors have explicitly focused on how the Four C's, ISTE Standards, DOK, and SAMR all need to be considered in the creation process. A summer must read!

Buy it - you won't regret it!
I use Amazon regularly, but this is the first review I've ever made. I'm a teacher and read a lot of educational books. Usually they're based on the philosophy of education and are more designed to tell me how I should be doing things differently without any real applicable logistics. Not this book!!! This might be the best professional development book I have EVER read. There is a bit at the beginning about philosophy, but it's so full of actual lessons, ideas, resources to use that you can't help but feel inspired to try it out. I jumped in with both feet to make my first hyperdoc within only days of receiving this book. If you want to incorporate more blended learning into your classroom and feel that creative spark when you design something really new and engaging then buy this book!I was not paid or compensated to write this review. Another teacher told me about the book at a training and I bought it while I was sitting there. So glad I did.

Best Decision I've Ever Made!
The HyperDoc Handbook: Digital Lesson Design Using Google Apps by Lisa Highfill, Kelly Hilton, and Sarah Landis should be a required read for all teachers, lesson designers, curriculum writers, and educational leaders. In our growing, expanding, and ever-changing world of technology, schools and classrooms are sometimes at a loss for how to best use the many available tools to benefit our students. This book teaches you how to do just that. Each year there seems to be more curriculum to cover, more tests to prepare for, and more requirements to meet. While it seems near impossible to cover everything, I feel a renewed sense of hope after learning how to design and deliver lessons through the use of HyperDocs. This will be my 20th year teaching Spanish and English Lit and Composition. Even after my many years in the classroom, I'm at the beginner stage when it comes to using technology to enhance my lessons. When I found out I would be getting a cart of Chromebooks for my classroom this coming school year, although excited, I was really feeling quite nervous...we have never had any type of technology for students to use in the classroom. What does this mean? What am I supposed to do? How can I make sure I'm using tech in a way that will benefit my students? With no clue where to begin, I knew I had to do something to calm my panic. So, I purchsed The HyperDoc Handbook and joined the HyperDocs Online Bootcamp Course with the amazing HyperDoc Girls! From beginners to the most advanced, this book (and bootcamp course) is for everyone, at all levels, all subject areas, all grades. I've never seen or been part of a more supportive, helpful, and encouraging community of teachers and learners than the HyperDocs community. I'm on Twitter, but this community is strong across all social media platforms. It is so wonderful to interact with and share ideas and lessons with educators from all over the globe who share my same goals, care about students, and are nothing but 100% positive. It is truly awesome! The HyperDoc Handbook takes you through, step-by-step, how to create and deliver authentic digital lessons to best fit your students' needs. There are so many different ideas, templates, strategies, and techniques to meet you at whatever level you are at right now. The handbook also helps guide you from beginner to the next level, teaching you what to do when you are ready to move to the next step. Because of the huge support, assistance, and motivation provided through the online community of educators (newbies to experts) and its many available resources, I'm never at a loss. This is how all teachers should feel.Hands down, making the decision to step into the world of HyperDocs and learn how to create Hyperdoc lessons, has been one of the smartest professional moves I've taken in all my years of teaching. I now have the confidence and the "know-how" to make my lessons rich and relevant, interactive, and super engaging! Thank you so much, ladies, for your hard work and dedication! As I enter the new school year, I'm looking forward to developing a community of creators and critical thinkers! It's going to be a year filled with curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, and I cannot wait!

... School who has trained GTTP and PGCSE Students cannot recommend this more highly as the book you read before ...
The HyperDoc Handbook: Digital Lesson Design Using Google Apps As a former Head of Science and Head of ICT in Middle School who has trained GTTP and PGCSE Students cannot recommend this more highly as the book you read before any others when you start your Teacher Training. The digital classroom is transforming how we teach, anything before is dated but equally should not be disregarded since there may be a day, horror of horrors, when there is no internet and you have to "chalk and talk"! The HyperDoc Handbook: Digital Lesson Design Using Google Apps

Great book. Arrived damaged
The book itself is great. I've been waiting to read it for a year or so. I'm excited about the book and it arrived quickly. Unfortunately, this is the second book THIS WEEK that has arrived damaged, bent, creased and generally not in "new" condition. Amazon may want to consider a new shipper.

Strong pedagogy behind the concepts in this book.
Lots of great ideas for how to structure strong lessons using technology to help engage students. Even if you are not in a Google Apps for Education school you can still use many of the ideas and adapt for the technology that you have available.
