Counting from 0 to 20
I got this workbook for my 4.5-year-old niece, and the activities were appropriate for her skill level. Some activities are easier and some are harder. An example of the activities is a page showing how to write the numbers from 0 to 5 as well as how to spell them by tracing the letters. Another activity is choosing which of three pictures has zero flowers to make sure that the child understands what the number means. They do this for each of the numbers between zero and five before going on to an activity where you match the number to the picture that shows that number of objects. The next activity has you fill in the missing number when counting (for example, one, two, three, blank, five). Another activity has you draw a line between each number in the correct order and the numbers are placed randomly on the page. This section ends with a picture with several objects and you need to count how many there are of each object. You then do this for numbers 6 to 20. There is a section at the very end that works on early math, like circling the picture that has more objects or fewer objects and some basic addition with pictures to help with the counting.

Really helps with counting
I have been using this book with my 3 1/2-year-old. She has become better with counting but this book does not provide enough practice with writing the numbers for her to be proficient in that. Before using this book she could count, but would often count the same item twice and always give me the incorrect total. Now she gets the concept of actually counting items once. The book is divided into sections of numbers. For example, the first section was 0 through 5. Every number has one page dedicated to tracing the numbers and another page providing an opportunity to count and circle a group of items related to that number. At the end of the section it did a brief review of counting and offering some other activities. This book is definitely geared toward a child that needs practice with counting and is just beginning to write. It will also help a child that hasn’t mastered all of the numbers of 0 to 20. I definitely think my daughter has kept interest in this book because there are so many interesting items to count. They are visually appealing and the activities are pretty fun for her so she has been having a great time.

Excellent math resource
I loved teaching my little ones basic skills before they went to preschool. Now I get the chance to do it all over again with my grandkids and this book is one of the first I'm using to teach basic math skills. Great for little hands and minds. Easy problems and good for one-on-one interaction. They soak this stuff up! I love being able to watch them learn and know I had a part in it!

Nice and large print
This has been so useful to us while teaching our toddlers how to write. The numbers and letters are large, which makes it much easier for the kids. They simply need to follow the line to write whatever character is on the page. I do feel that the large characters helped our child concentrate on following the lines easily and neatly (for a four year old).
