perfect double flare
gotta say this was a smart purchase as this tool made perfect double flares on my 1996 chevrolet s-10 with 3/16 th's brake line. i bought a bulk roll of 25 foot , 3/16 th's brake line, fittings and a flare union to replace a rusty section of line. cut the bad out and double flared the existing line that was solid and free of any rust while still on my truck . cut and installed fittings , then flared the replacement line. i was looking at the Eastwood tool which was 3 times the cost of this oem made tool. glad i went with this one..........easy to use, the tool worked like a charm. perfect double flares are easy with this tool.looked the same as a factory double flare.this tool has already paid for itself and i get to use it later as needed.

Worked perfectly first time every time.
Using this tool the first time was not intuitively obvious to me. Read the directions carefully. Remember to always put the nut on the line BEFORE making the flare. One step that's not foolproof is holding the right amount of tubing protruding while tightening the clamp. Not so hard on the bench, but tricky to do on your back under a trailer in bad light. Watch closely for cross threading the ram into the clamp. Don't drop the tiny adapter in the grass.Makes uniform flares even in tight awkward places. I highly recommend this tool. One gripe: it came with two adapters labeled '4.75m' but no adapter labeled 3/16". This was disturbing.

Definitely not a primary tool
May not last long if you’re fabricating steel brake lines. Works well with the softer brake line materials.

How to do everything. What tools to Use. $180 SwageLok.com if you got pride & use a vise too.
Doing Brake Lines. None of them Leak. Tested the brake pedal hard a few times. Minivan Suspension has a lot of body throw. These are better than than those Bar Flaring Tools. If you work with steel or poly-armour you'll want one with a side handle on it.Its more than a handful to try holding a 7/8inch to the base, and 9/16 on the head. And turn without the base slipping or spinning. I did fine.I honestly think reviewers broke theirs on purpose. I saw the Fotos for Tekton 2ft Breaker Bar and Amazon Definitely has a problem with some Reviewers hating the TekTon costing less. ~ keep your wrench near the base. You'll break the wrench before you break the tool.Use "Deep Creep" as your lube.I have purchased Copper Scrubber from Amazon. They were crap. This flaring tool is $15 pony up the money for NiCopp, the no name copper products I tried via Amazon produces rust.If you take care of your vehicle and can not find a seller of prefab Stainless Steel Brake lines, then please look at SwageLok. It's $175 but it grabs the damn pipe tube so that it does not roll. I had so many problems with trying to Mark Poly-Armour, not scrape the grocery plastic bag skin, and bend it. Flares get filled with the plastic bag garbage = this leaks.Own1. A really good Flat File, Metal Rasp, clear flares.2 & 3. 12mm X 13mm Flare Nut Wrench PepBoys4. 180 Degree Brake Line Bender 3/16 ~ SwageLok is the best for copying angles. No 90 Degree Benders. Intentional garbage tool. 4(a). The best method is to use a vise to hold one handle of the bender can copy without the SwageLok if you use a bench mounted vise to hold your tool.5. Deep Creep (I used liquid wrench, but DC is Anti-Rust.)6. Wire Brush, really handy to reuse fittings.7. Flashlight8. Flat head9. Pliers10. 7/8 wrench = OEM inline flare11. 9/16 wrench = OEM inline flare12. Allen Key Set = OEM inline flare.13 & 14 & 15. Buy 3x 32oz brake bottles. If skip one bottle, can return extra.16. Clear Coat Paint Can if any of it is gone, the rest is rusting. Clear coat until more time. (I used Penetrating Spray. Paint is Better. Did not feel like dealing with wind and mist.)17. 10 foot Clear Vinyl Tube for $3, Lowe's or Home Depot.18. Simply Grapefruit Juice, or bleeder bottle kit, 10 foot pedal pumps and refill reservoir between.19. Offset head 10mm X 11mm Brake Bleeder wrench. (Or Deepsocket 10mm and 10mm Front, I used the $4 Deepsocket and normal wrench. Would have felt better with the correct tool.)20. Unscrew until it leaks, pump peddle until no bubbles. Close Bleeder Screw.21. If your autos right front Bleeder Screw Breaks Replace Caliper. These screws do not come out. Have fun trying if you already have the tools. I might try myself. YouTube low on hope.

Very nice double flares, but...
This tool makes very nice double flares, much better that the more common tools. Perfect, in fact. However, the instructions are next to worthless. Someone who has never made double flares with another tool may be in trouble. For example, "Use the adapter as a guide for proper insertion length." Well, fine but which part of the adapter? I had to experiment to figure it out. Also, when I did the initial flare using the 3/16 die, I could not get the die pin out of the brake line without tapping the die with a hammer. Then, when it did come loose, the pin was bent. I was able to straighten it, but no way should that have happened. I'd like to buy a spare die (OEM calls it an adapter), but I'm not optimistic that they sell one.

Good concept, cheap execution.
Interior retaining thread stripped and would not retain brake lines after second use. Tool was used correctly. The concept of this tool is promising but the execution in materials is terrible; retaining die, as other reviewers have stated, is made of very cheap pot metal and is very easy to damage. Had said piece been made of at least tool grade steel this tool would have not only sold for a little more, but it probably would have stayed in my tool box as opposed to being returned. My suggestion is that OEM/Autozone rethink the materials in this tool, fix it and then see where it can go.

Great tool for most US/Asian brake jobs.
If you just want a tool to do inverted/double flare on 3/16 line, which is the most common on US and Asian vehicles, get this tool. It's less expensive than the cheap, and cheaply made, bar clamp kits that do half a dozen line sizes you'll never need, and easier to use. Because it's more compact it can fit in places they can't so if, like me, you are replacing the rusted out ends of your coated brake lines you can simply do them in place without removing the lines. My only advice is to double check that you screw the main shaft on straight. Since the block is split and only partially threaded it can be easy to crossthread, especially if you are working at an awkward angle. When threaded correctly it should screw on flush to the base with no resistance, provided you have the inner screw dialed out so it doesn't contact the line/die inside before bottoming out. Also, as others have said I would consider the depth guide on the die piece to be a minimum depth. It will work, but you might want to err on being a hair longer to give a little bigger flare.

Great tool, making even bubble flare with 100% repeatability.
I was sceptical for this tool, even I was surprised to find my car is using bubble flare and not double flare. I did some research how to use this tool for bubble flare and with some practice I was able to produce great bubble shape. The tool is reliable and way more accurate comparable to the clamp type tools.

Made four very nice, well formed bubble flares, easy to use on vehicle..
Vice stripped on the fifth flare, other than that if vice would not strip the threads, this would be a star performer.....The wrong metal is used for the vice.. I had read the reviews & was very careful how it was used & it still stripped the threads on the vice.......
