Super Fun & Educational Glow-in-the-Dark Science Kit with a Variety of Activities
This Smartlab science kit turned out to be a family favorite. It is both fun and educational. Plus, every experiment glows. And there are a variety of things to make. The illustrated instruction book is visually appealing and makes it easy to understand what is happening with each activity. My kids now know and understand the different types of luminescence. This kit covers chemiluminescence with glow sticks that you activate, phosphorescence using zinc sulfide powder, and flourescence using tonic water and the included fluorescent ink. We also looked up online living creatures that are bioluminescent such as a firefly. You do need to buy a lot of household items but I think it is worth considering how much fun my kids had and what they learned from it. You can make glowing slime, glowing oobleck with cornstarch, glowing putty ball and bouncing glowball, a glow in the dark geode with borax crystals, glowing instant snow and glowing jelly balls. Using gelatin, you can make three different glow creatures that will stick to glass or a mirror. Super Cool! And each experiment involves more than just a glow in the dark activity. My children learned about different polymers ( gelatin, glue, sodium polyacrylate) and acid/base neutralizations by creating a glowing lava lamp and fizzing, glowing test tube "volcanoes". Also, you can grow two types of crystals from alum powder and borax.

Experiments That Really Glow!
If you want a toy that you can hand over to the child without getting involved yourself, you will not like this chemistry set for a child under 10. A parent has to gather the materials and read the instructions. But the instruction book offers a good collection of experiments, and they really work. My grandson (age 7) and I have made the glowing slime, oobleck, putty ball, glow creatures, and lava lamp, and still have several more experiments to try. Usually, several materials are required, so he gets to do plenty of measuring and stirring. Most of the materials are readily available, so we will be able to repeat these experiments any time. Naturally, the beaker, test tubes, etc., are cheap plastic and very tiny. Also, the black light was broken when we opened the box (FYI, its batteries are not replaceable), but I phoned the company and they sent a replacement right away. Over the years, I have been persuaded into purchasing several chemistry sets, but this one is definitely the most fun.

Needs a few more ingredients
Bought as a surprise to have some family fun on a trip away for Halloween (no trick or treating during covid). Once we opened package the kids were so excited but We couldnt do a single experiment. We didn't have any of the extras it called for. Most call for Cornstarch. One asks for an ingredient I've never heard of before. We are back home but it's still sitting in box. Update when we have time to do one.

This is a good product, but it is annoying there are items that must be purchased extra before you can do the experiments like tonic water and borax. If this is bought as a gift you may want to open up and look at the other items that need to be bought to conduct the experiments. My son had to wait a week before I was able to get the other items, which made him less interested in the item. Plus this Item is something that should be supervised with the neon solution. I like that it's hands on and he is not in front of the TV or on video games.

Great kit but some additional material needed
A cool kit but there are a number of things you need to get in addition to the lab itself, such as other ingredients and so on. There are a few things to make that only involve the contents of the kits but most experiments do require at least a few other items to be purchased desperately and independantly.

Needs much more
This is a fun kit but almost every experiment needs things that it doesn't come with and that we don't have around the house. My kids was disappointed.

Lot's of fun!!
My 9 year old daughter loves to experiment and help in the kitchen. She has really enjoyed the first 6 experiments, and learning the basics of the different types of luminescence. Plenty of opportunities for measuring, pouring, and stirring. And a nice reward in getting to see a 'cool' result from her efforts; provides a fun opportunity to learn the specific lesson. Material provided is light weight, but adequate, and consistent with the price. A few extra supplies are needed at different points, ie, tonic water, food coloring, alum, etc., but nothing prohibitively costly. Most importantly, she loves it.

Producto recomendado.
