Trim excess wax from joints prior to assembly
So these showed up about a week ahead of schedule which was great, giving me lots of time to assemble before bee arrival.Overall, the quality is very good especially considering the price. I do have three criticisms, though. First my kits did not include screws to assemble the boxes. The nails went in a little too easily but did not split the wood. I hope they hold, but doubt they will as well as if screwed. Second, I did not receive enough nails to assemble all the frames. I ended up nailing the third set of frames with my Brad nailer. These actually turned out better and I will use this method when I assemble my second hive. Lastly, the wax coating on the boxes is nice but I recommend two additional preparation steps before assembly. First team-drill the screw holes to remove excess wax before nailing the boxes. Second, use a utility knife or razor blade scraper to remove excess wax buildup from the joint cut outs. This will allow things to go together smoothly and avoid splitting a box board. I split my first board when joining the first corner as the fit was too tight. These units are precision cut and the wax build up on the joints can be problematic if you do not trim itbfirsr

Very impressed
I’m pretty satisfied with this hive, I quickly assembled everything in an evening after work. You do have to clean up the dovetail joints before assembly because the box sides are dipped but it was fast and easy with a knife that has a flat end. For the price you cannot go wrong with this hive, especially since it’s coated and you don’t have to paint. It’s a beautiful hive, I can’t wait to get some bees in it. Will definitely buy again.

Boxes assemble well with tight corners but the frame sidebars are not pre-drilled
Overall I am pretty happy with the bee hive. I like the wax coated boxes to save painting. Also, the corners of the boxes went together well after removing excess wax and using a rubber mallet and small board. However, my biggest complaint is with the frames. The sidebars for the frames are not pre-drilled to allow additional support clips to be used to secure the foundation. Without the additional support, it is possible for the foundation to sling free from the frame during honey extraction due to the weight of the honey. I ended up having to drill 48 3/32s holes to allow the clips to be used. Also, similar to another customer's feedback, I did not have a lot of success using the nails provided for the frames (using a hammer), but had much more success using a pneumatic brad nailer.

First time beekeeper
Overall nice product. The instruction said use screws but the seller provides nails for the boxes. The was coating on the boxes makes it a bit hard to fit them together, I used a mallet.
